Lori was born to Theodore Turgeon and Louisa Harvell in Mitchell, South Dakota on August 7th, 1961.

At the age of two, Lori became a part of Boots and Betty Brock's family, gaining siblings: Jerry, Beverly and Wayne, and being raised, loved and accepted by the rest of the Brock clan. She met and married Percy Sutley, June 21st, 1977, and they remained together until his passing in 1987. They had one daughter, Misti, born in 1981. After Percy's death, Lori moved from Pierre back to Ree Heights, where she met Timothy Koeck. They were married in 1990, divorcing later but remaining in each other's lives. They had two daughters together, Rachel Lynn Koeck, born in 1991, and Sarah Ann Koeck, born in 1993.

Lori's life revolved around animals. From her rodeo days as a young woman, to her proud status of 'crazy cat lady' later in life, she found great happiness in caring for every critter she came across, pouring her whole heart and soul into their wellbeing. When she was not busy with her pets, she loved to make art. Lori expressed her artistic talent by drawing simple horses at first, then more detailed creatures over time. She branched into other creative pursuits and spent countless hours engraving gifts for her family.

A loving mother, a generous, loyal, steadfast friend, and a truly gentle soul was lost too early when Lori left us. Her life was a lesson to us all to aspire to be as patient and kind to each other as she was to everyone she knew.

Lori is survived by her three daughters: Misti (Sid) Penmetcha, Rachel Lynn Koeck, and Sarah Ann Koeck; one granddaughter, Tessa Rose Koeck; one brother, Mark Turgeon; two sisters: Rebecca Sandoval and Wendy Turgeon; and one foster brother, Wayne Brock.

Preceding her in death were both parents: Theodore and Louisa; her foster parents: Betty and Boots; her husband, Percy; her ex-husband, Timothy; and her brother, Mike.

Reck Funeral Home of Miller has been entrusted with Lori's arrangements.

A Memorial Service was held on December 17, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Reck Funeral Home, 313 E. 1st Ave. in Miller, South Dakota 57362

  17. Lori and I were best buddies in early school. I met her when we shared classroom. I was in 2nd grade. I used to walk all the way to her house to play with Lori and Ted. We'd get down in the dirt and sift it into fine powder. Go out in back pasture and snoop around in the buildings trying to catch field mice. Then I be so exhausted from long afternion of outdoor play and have to make the mile walk home for dinner. So I was very happy when I finally got a pony to ride with her.
We stood on their rumps. We played cowgirl trick rider but only got the nerve to gallop while sitting down with out arms held out. I remember when she got Scout. I am the friend that she called to come and meet him. Betty bought Lori a $70 pony saddle that was just beautiful. I remember her cat and kittens and we played with them in the side sun room. She also called me to go riding the day she got her first menstrual cycle. She was nervous and excited but she didn't have cramps and that is why she wanted to go riding. A year or 2 later my family blew up and we moved away. I lost touch with almost everyone I loved in Ree Heights. I sure loved Lori. She was a big influence on me with animals.
I too have had all kinds animals too including the kind without fur.
I am grateful to have been a part of Lori's life.
I am sorry for your loss sympathy to her loved ones that miss her.
