Marie Froning

Marie M. Froning, 90, of Miller, passed away Sunday, October 24, 2021, at the Highmore Health in Highmore, SD.

Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 28, 2021, at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Miller, with Father Paul T. Josten, celebrant.  Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Polo.  Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the church.

Marie was born on June 9, 1931, to John and Edeltraud (Spangler) Popp in Jefferson, Wisconsin. Marie joined four sisters, Hyacinth, Irene, Lucille and Lorraine and three brothers, Bernard, Raymond and Earl.

Marie married Alphonse Froning on November 21, 1959, in Fort Atkinson, WI. They lived on the Froning Farm south of Polo until Al’s passing in 1989, at which time Marie moved to Miller. She had her own cleaning company and cleaned for several individuals and businesses for many years. While she cleaned for Dakota Energy, she also got to share her love of flowers and gardening with everyone in the beautiful flower beds there.

Marie enjoyed playing cards of any kind and spent many fun afternoons at the Miller Senior Center, until her health required a move to the Courtyard Villa in Miller.

She is survived by her son, Greg (Nancy) Froning of Polo; daughter, Barb (Lorin) Johnson of Miller; grandchildren: Derek Froning and Rachael Froning of Silver Lake, Kansas, Lane Johnson, Luke Johnson, and Alica (Mike) Nicholson of Miller; sister-in-law, Evelyn Froning of Miller; and many nieces and nephews.

Marie will be reunited in heaven with her husband, Alphonse; parents: John and Edeltraud; four sisters and three brothers.
