Helen Dalton, 96, of Colorado City, TX formerly of Miller, SD, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at the Mitchell County Nursing and Rehab in Colorado City, TX.

Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at the First United Methodist Church, Miller, Rev. Teresa Whetsel, officiating.  Burial will be Thursday, July 28, 2022, at Black Hills National Cemetery, Sturgis.          

Helen was born on February 28, in Highmore, SD to Walter & Minnie (Hale) Alumbaugh. She lived in Highmore during her childhood and graduated school from Highmore High School.

Helen married the love of her life, Floyd Dalton, on February 28, 1946 in Highmore. Helen worked for the Onida School District. After moving to Miller, she worked as a nurse’s aide at the Hand County Hospital. After retiring from the hospital, her love of children led her to providing an in-home daycare.

Helen enjoyed camping, fishing, and a “little” gambling. Helen & Floyd spent many hours playing cards and dominoes with family and friends. She was a lifetime member of the VFW auxiliary,and served as president for a period of time. Also, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Miller and served as a member of the Methodist Women’s Group. Helen & Floyd served as volunteer camp hosts at Lake Louise.

Grateful to have shared in her life are daughter, Shirley (Pat) McMahan of Colorado City, TX; son, Harry (Peggi) Dalton of Colorado City, TX; granddaughters: Tina and Letitia (Matt); sister Alice Lehman of Mitchell, SD; brother, Don (Cheryl) Alumbaugh of Custer, SD; five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Helen is preceded in death by her loving husband Floyd; her parents; brothers, Kenneth and two infant brothers; sisters-in-law: Ollie and Lois; brother-in-law, Clyde Lehman; grandson, Kevin; granddaughter, Stacy Lynn; grandson-in-law, Gilbert Martinez.

Reck Funeral Home of Miller has been entrusted with Helen’s arrangements.

A Memorial Service was held on July 27, 2022 at 10:30 AM at First United Methodist Church, 610 East 4th Ave in Miller, South Dakota 57362
A Graveside Service was held on July 28, 2022 at Black Hills National Cemetery, 20901 Pleasant Valley Drive in Sturgis, South Dakota 57785

We were all members of them CB Club and the Methodist Church here. They were clients of mine at Alice's Beauty Salon and I always enjoyed their company.
