Curt Schaefers

Curt Schaefers, 63, of Orient, passed away Friday, November 26, 2021 at Avera McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls.
Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Orient with Father Randy Phillips presiding. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A prayer service will be 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at the church with visitation one-hour prior.
Curt Harold Schaefers was born October 28, 1958 to his parents, Harold and Mary Jane (Conway) Schaefers in Faulkton, SD. He attended grade school in Polo through the fourth grade. He then completed his remaining grades in Faulkton, graduating from Faulkton High School in 1976. Curt worked on the farm until the time of his death.
In his younger years, Curt enjoyed team roping with his brother, Dirk. One of the highlights of their career was winning the South Dakota 4-H finals in 1977.
Curt’s passion was always the family farm. He enjoyed checking crops, cattle, and rain gauges with a dog by his side. His nieces and nephews were his pride and joy, he was always interested in their activities.
Curt is survived by his sister, Bab (Kirk) Carr, Fargo, ND; brother, Dirk (Susan) Schaefers, Orient, SD; nieces and nephews: Andrew (Kristen) Carr, Jeremy Carr, Kassie (Matt) Kutz, Collin Schaefers, and Kaitee (Brandon) White; great nieces and nephews: Molly and Connor Carr, Layla, Easton, and Archer Kutz, and Annie White.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Mary Jane Schaefers.
Luce Funeral Home of Faulkton has been entrusted with Curt’s arrangements.
