Thomas Middletent

Thomas Middletent, 39, of Fort Thompson passed away Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at the Sanford USD Medical Center, Sioux Falls, SD.

Funeral mass was 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 13, 2021, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Fort Thompson, SD, Father Jean Claude, celebrant.  Burial followed at St. Catherine's Cemetery, West Bend. A two-night wake was at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 11, 2021, and Sunday, December 12, 2021, all at the church. 

Thomas Ray Middletent was born on April 5, 1982, to Steve and Francine (St. John) Middletent in Chamberlain, SD.

He attended school at Crow Creek Elementary School from 1^st to 9^th grade. He then moved to Bismarck, ND and completed the 10^th and 11^th grade at Bismarck High School.  He moved back home and graduated in 2001 at the Crow Creek High School.  He attended United Tribes Technical College and studied Business Administration. 

Thomas loved to work.  He traveled around South Dakota and Wyoming doing road construction and building construction.  He did this type of work until his health began to fail him.  He was diagnosed with diabetes.  He battled this disease and changed his life forever and he ultimately lost the battle.

He will be remembered for his smile and laugh.  Thomas always had a good sense of humor.  He loved his children dearly and always thought of them first.   Being a single father wasn’t easy for him, but he always provided for them.  Even when he was sick he would still be at work.  He liked to cook for his kids, always asking them what they wanted to eat.  He will be greatly missed by many, and he will never be forgotten.

Thomas is survived by his parents; two brothers: Victor and Lucas; one sister, Rachel; two sons: Alan and Isaiah, and five daughters:  Lynaiah, Hialle, Ezmiah, Tasia, and Aniya; and one month old granddaughter, Alaini.  Thomas was a very proud grandpa, even though he thought he was still young, he loved her so much.

He is preceded in death by his brother, Perry; paternal grandparents: Ernest and Adeline (Red Day) Middletent; and maternal grandparents: Edmund and Mildred (Rabbit) St. John, Sr.
