Debra A. Koch, 66, of Gettysburg, passed away at Avera Oahe Manor, Gettysburg. An angel came in the early hours on March 29, 2022 and called out to Debra saying her place was ready in Heaven above. The angel held out her hand and Debra went peacefully home to Jesus.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 9, 2022, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Gettysburg, with Pastor David Otten presiding. Burial will follow in the Gettysburg Cemetery. Prayer service will be 7:00 p.m., Friday, April 8, 2022, with visitation one-hour prior, all at the church.

Debra was born July 8, 1955, and dearly loved by her parents, Carroll and Geraldine Koch of Gettysburg, SD. She loved music and singing. Elvis was a favorite of hers as well as music of Jesus. Through the years she enjoyed latch hook, crafts, coloring, and participating in Special Olympics.

Debra won the hearts of many with her infectious smile, enormous heart, and resilience beyond measure. She lived at Avera Oahe Manor for many years where the staff and caregivers have provided the utmost care, compassion, and love.

Debra is survived by her brother, Jim (Linda) Koch; nieces, Shari (Ryan) Yenor and Angie Jaragoske (Thomas Carroll); great nephews, Ty King and Shane King.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Carroll and Geraldine Koch; husband, Michael; and sister, Darcy Johns.

Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg has been entrusted with Debbie’s arrangements.

  4. So sorry to hear of the passing. It was always such a joy to visit with Debbie when we were at the Oahe Manor to visit mom.  Also Debbie looked out for mom and was a friend to her.  She would tell me. Marcella can’t speak, but she can hear you. They had a bond. Debbie and I shared the same birthdate July 8.  She is a angel in heaven. My condolences to your family.
