Royce "RJ" Marrowbone Jr.

Royce “RJ” A. Marrowbone Jr., 26, of Cherry Creek, passed away Friday, September 16, 2022 at Monument Health Hospital, Rapid City.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. MDT, Monday, September 26, 2022, at the Cherry Creek Blue Gym, Cherry Creek.  Burial will follow in St. Andrew’s Episcopal Cemetery, Cherry Creek. Wake services will be 7:00 p.m., Sunday, September 25, 2022, at the gym with a procession at the hill east of town at 4:00 p.m.

Royce A. Marrowbone, Jr. “R. J. Burgz” of Cherry Creek was born on October 27, 1995, in Pierre, South Dakota to Angelica Demery and Royce Marrowbone, Sr.  R.J. attended Takini School in Eagle Butte and Crow Creek School.  He enjoyed school throughout his childhood and adult life. 

His passion in life was basketball, he played whenever he could.  His biggest loves in life were his beautiful babies: D’Vaughn and A’laura and his special friend, Jessi.  R. J. loved his family and all his friends.  He was a quiet, and respectful young man.  He loved traveling and loved the WLS group.  He was a great traveler especially with Beau and Susan Bendigo, and Tyron Sudden Brave.  He was a resident in Pierre, SD and worked there until he became ill. 

R. J. was respected by many. He told all his loved ones not to cry. He will be missed by many. R. I. P. “R. J. Burgz”

Royce is survived by his mother, Angelic Demery; sisters: Adrienne Marrowbone, and Tre’lyn  Red Elk; brother, Drake Kills Crow; two beautiful babies: D’Vaughn Jay and A’Laura Lyn;  special nieces: Kaycelynn Dupris, Ka’Theresa Dupris, Eric’lyah Hayes, Spirit Ley, Jazelean Hayes; nephews: Chauncy Hayes, August and Heaven Ley;  aunties: Denise Kills Crow (Anthony Young), Ophelia (Billy) Dupris, Edna Tyndall; uncles: Dewey Marrowbone, Sr., and Scott Marrowbone, Sr.; numerous cousins who were like brothers and sisters; and special friend, Jessie Garter.

Welcoming him home are his father, Royce Marrowbone, Sr.; grandmothers: Theresa Hale and Linda Marrowbone; grandfather, Dennis Kills Crow; uncles: Justin Marrowbone, Gary Marrowbone, and Orville Marrowbone; and aunties: Dawn Kills Crow, Amber Kills Crow, and Erma Marrowbone.
