Sherry Lehman

Sherry Ann (Wahlen) Lehman, 70, of Ireton, IA, formerly of Faulkton, SD, passed away Monday, December 12, 2022, at Mercyone Medical Center, Sioux City, IA.

A memorial service will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 16, 2023, at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Faulkton, with Pastor LeShea Avery presiding.  Burial will take place at a later date in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Wecota. Visitation will be one-hour prior to the service at the church.

Sherry was born on September 24, 1952, to Nels Wahlen and Ruth (Cooper) Wahlen, in Faulkton, SD, where she was raised with her four older siblings: Shirley, Dick, Joyce and Gary.  Sherry graduated from Faulkton High School in 1970. 

Sherry married Randy Lehman, on February 10, 1970, in Faulkton, SD. To this union, three children were born, Penny, Robert and Scott. Sherry and Randy resided in Faulkton until 1990, when they moved to Turton, SD, where they resided until 1994. From here they relocated to Le Mars, IA/Ireton, IA area where they made their home.

During her years in Faulkton, Sherry worked at the Café with her mother-in-law Thelma Lehman, at both J.P. Shirk Nursing Home, and at Faulk Co. Hospital as a nurse’s aide, and at the Post Office as a rural mail carrier.  After moving to Turton, SD, Sherry helped Randy as he worked for Troske Farms, and took care of the books for Lehman Trucking. After they moved to Iowa, Sherry managed the office, and bookwork for Lehman Trucking and RSL Trucking. 

In Sherry’s spare time she enjoyed gardening, fishing, camping, and horseback riding with Randy, her children, and grandchildren.

Sherry is survived by her husband, Randy Lehman of Ireton, IA; children, Penny Lehman of Cherokee, IA, and Robert Lehman (Camille) of Ireton, IA; siblings, Dick (Jean) Wahlen of Faulkton, SD, and Joyce Nelsen of Flandreau, SD; grandchildren: Cerra, Shannon, Rhiannon, Thomas, Nicholas, Brooke, Hannah, Nickolas, Nickole, Taylor, and Joslyn; great-grandchildren: Sophia, Skylar, Ben, Charlee, Sawyer, Gavin, and Rylan; in-laws, Cindy (Jerry) Lehman and Tammy Lehman; and many nieces and nephews.

Sherry is preceded in death by her parents, Nels and Ruth Wahlen; son, Scott Lehman; sister, Shirley Aasby; brother, Gary Wahlen; father and mother-in-law, LeRoy Lehman and Thelma (Bishop) Lehman; brothers-in-law, Ben Lehman, Conrad Lehman, Ardis Aasby and Roger Nelsen.

Luce Funeral Home of Faulkton has been entrusted with Sherry’s arrangements.
