Ronnie Kopecky, 65, of Long Lake, SD, passed away Thursday, May 25, 2023, at Avera McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls. 

In honor of Ron’s request, he was cremated, and no services will be held.

Ronnie Bill “Ron” Kopecky was born September 16, 1957, in Miller, SD, to Gordon and Winnie (Morford) Kopecky.

He attended grade school at Eden School and graduated in 1975 from Polo High School. Ron married Pam Driver of Aberdeen, SD on April 14, 1979. To this union two sons were born, John and Matt.

He is survived by his significant other, Mary Miller; his two sons: John and Matt Kopecky; granddaughter, Evelyn; brother, Jerry (Cindy) Kopecky; six sisters: Bonnie Wilson, Sharon Serfling, Linda (Tom) Johannsen, Judy (Don) Craft, Kathy (Bill) Savage, and Leasa Ortmeier; sister-in-law, Janet Kopecky; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gary “Smokey” Kopecky; nephew, Troy Wilson; and nieces: Jodi Johannsen and Terri Wilson.

Luce Funeral Home of Faulkton has been entrusted with Ronnie’s arrangements.

  2. Very sorry to hear of this! Ron a great man, I worked with him at Sieh cattle. I am wishing the family well!

  3. Bill was a true cowboy and lived his life on his terms. My cousin was an old soul with a heart of gold. He worked for my dad farming and I enjoyed his wicked humor and ability to get people to do stupid shit just for fun. I am gonna miss that even though we had lost contact, God Bless you Bill. Hugs to all his family.

  4. Ron was too young. Always time for a smile and talk whenever and wherever you ran into him. My heart felt sorrow and sympathy to the family.
