Garret L. Hall, 51, of Aberdeen and formerly of Gettysburg, passed away unexpectedly Monday, July 31, 2023, at his home in Aberdeen. His family is deeply saddened by his sudden death.

Garret Lynn Hall was born August 20, 1971, to Bill and Darla (Joachim) Hall in Spearfish, SD. He received his education from Gettysburg High School, graduating in 1989. Garret continued his education at Lake Area Technical Institute at Watertown.  He made his career working in the automotive industry throughout South Dakota including Sioux Falls, Gettysburg, Pierre, Brookings, and Aberdeen. His last 15 years was spent in Aberdeen working for Sheehan Mac/Trans Source.

In the early 2000’s, Garret married Dawn Fortin, welcoming one stepson, Trevor.

Garret had a passion for anything automotive, however racing was what kept him busy most of the time.

Garret had a heart bigger than the universe and would help anyone, no matter how big of a jam they were in. He was one of the good guys, an irreplaceable man that will be missed by many.

Garret will be greatly missed by his parents: Bill and Darla Hall, Gettysburg; brothers: Bryan (Melody) Hall, Oakwood Lakes and Kirk (Jenni) Hall, Spearfish; nephews: Austin (Kaylee) Hall, Mankato, MN and Hayden (Brooke) Hall, Sioux Falls; nieces: Lainey Hall, Brookings and Kinsley Hall, Spearfish; great nephew: Knox Hall, Sioux Falls; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

  20. I'm so sorry and saddened for your loss. Garret and I were great friends when he was going to Vo-Tech in Watertown. We spent many nights cruising, listening to music, and talking. He even donned his top hat to take me to my senior prom where we had a blast. We just spoke a few months ago, and he was still the same funny and sweet guy. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
