Sibyl Lone Eagle
September 24, 1952 ~ August 27, 2023
Sibyl Lone Eagle, 70, of Bridger, SD was called back to the spirit world, Sunday, August 27, 2023, at her home.
Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 a.m. MDT, Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Bridger. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Our mother, a fierce Lakota Warrior, and the leader of our family. She raised us all to have her warrior spirit. Her love and guidance was one no other mother could match. Sibyl was loving and kind as she spent her life caring for our family and paving the way for all our successes.
Our sister, born to the late Zouie Lone Eagle and Harlan Bear Eagle. Sibyl grew beyond her surroundings. She graduated from the University of North Dakota with a B.S. in Criminal Justice, earned many certifications throughout her career as an educator, and was often rewarded for excellence. She worked always as a caretaker or educator for children, elders, and her family.
Our grandmother, she had a lovely smile and laugh, she gave the best hugs & she was the funniest person in the room. She had a tenacious spirit, meticulous mind, and loyal heart. She had a lovely eye for art and design, an enviable green thumb, and she was the best culinary artist of our generation. She gave more than she received at every turn. She remained humble in all of her pursuits, but always strived and achieved perfection as a result.
Although we feel her loss deeply, we find peace in that she is reunited with her son, mother, mesu, unci and our relatives that will welcome her to the spirit world.
We love you momma and you will be deeply missed. Hoka He! Toksha Ake!
Sibyl is survived by her daughter, Christina “Napeshni Wichapi Win” Hunts Horse; granddaughter, Audrey “Tashina Ska Win” Hunts Horse; and grandsons: Maspegni Hunts Horse & Joseph “Tha Whipe Ohitika” Hunts Horse-May.
Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg has been entrusted with Sibyl’s arrangements.

My Sincerest Condolences to Sibyl's family and friends. I worked with her for many years and no matter where we were she always greeted me. Sibyl will be missed dearly.
I will miss you dearly. Thank you for the years of friendship.
Thank you for always being there for our kids. You constantly showed them love and took care of them when Christina and I were away and junior enjoyed almost every summer with you. Thank you for the example you provided for them and teaching them the Lakota ways. Our kids and Chris are better people because of you. You are missed.
Christina and family,
Sending you strength and comfort as you navigate your great loss. May you find peace in every loving memory shared and teachings carried forward of Ms Sibyl, Lone Eagle.
Rest in power Ms Sibyl!
