Rosemary L. Curtis, 86, of Wessington, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at Avera Hand County Memorial Hospital in Miller, with family at her side.

Rosemary was born in Oshkosh, NE on September 9, 1938, to William and Ruby (Looney) Jacobs.  In June of 1954, Rosemary met the love of her life, Loran Curtis. They were married, shortly after, on July 3, 1954. In their union, they had five children: Rosalie, Lori, Randy, Kim, and Heidi.

Rosemary's first job was at a local grocery store in North Platte, NE, but her passion was always in hospitality, and she began working for the hotel industry. Her first hotel job was Assistant Manager at the Nebraskan Hotel in North Platte, NE. From there, she worked at a couple different hotels and after she and Loran moved to Grand Island, NE ended up working as the Front Desk Manager at the Super 8 Motel in Grand Island, NE. Rosemary retired from the Super 8 Motel after several years as manager.

Rosemary loved everyone she met, and they all loved her even more. She made everyone feel like family and always loved making people laugh. However, her true passion was for her family. She would tell everyone stories about her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Rosemary enjoyed going to the lake with her family and planning scavenger hunts for her grandchildren. Her favorite time of year was Christmas, and she was always wanting to go Christmas caroling.

Rosemary was a very devout Catholic and said the Rosary several times a day, and always kept her faith in God, especially during troubling times.

Rosemary is survived by her children: Rosalie Brainard of Aurora Nebraska, Randy (Arlene) Curtis of Cortez, CO, Kim (Dennis) Bell of Amarillo, TX, and Heidi (Larry) Kleinsasser of Wessington, SD; 18 grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.

Rosemary was preceded in death by her husband, Loran; parents, William and Ruby; twin brothers, Ronnie and Donnie; daughter, Lori; granddaughter; Tami Ann; great granddaughter, Tamara Elizabeth; and her beloved dog, Sugar

Reck Funeral Home of Miller has been entrusted with Rosemary's arrangements.
