Frank James Mound was born at the Cheyenne Agency on December 3, 1961, to Orsen Mound Sr. and Delilah Thompson. He grew up in the country with his siblings: Donna Thompson, Janielle, Orsen Jr., Alvin, Andrew Mound, Richard, Mary, Kermit and Nell Miner.

Frank joined the United State Army and when he left, he met his wife, Wendy Girton. They welcomed their children James, Alex, Phillip, Gabrielle, Sara, and Jayden. The family moved around and made a home wherever they went.

Frank was a simple and humble man. Not many can tell you a time they saw him upset. His smile was a giveaway and if you knew him you knew he had a joke ready. He loved life and all it had to offer. He traveled a lot and got to wherever he wanted or needed to go. Frank loved to cook for his family and would whip up everything with all his love. He enjoyed Bronc riding and had plenty of stories of all his events. If you had a chance to sit and bullshit with Frank, he would tell you his many tales. He had one for every event in life and family occasion. The best ones were the fishing stories, he loved to fish. It was hard telling if he really did catch that Catfish Hunter. Of all the tales and stories, one thing was for sure and true, Frank James Mound was a movie star. He acted in “Dances with Wolves” and “Crazy Horse”, and he had a VHS to prove it and would pause the exact moment when you could see him on screen.

Frank is survived by his children: James Mound, Alex Mound, Phillip Mound, Gabrielle Smith, Sara Mound, and Jayden Mound; grandchildren: Jayda, Daisha, Nevin, Neo, Natalee, Kellan, Avery, Baby Girl, Alaina, Gage, Jerek, Bristol, Jersey Jay, Adeline, Aubrielle, Jude, Evelyn, Owen, and Oaklynn, his siblings: Janielle and Alvin Mound, Richard, Mary, Kermit and Nell Miner; and all of his nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Donna Weishaar; brothers: Orsen Jr. and Andrew Mound; and uncle, Alex Thompson.

Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg has been entrusted with Frank’s arrangements.
