Marty L. Takes The Knife, 56, of Eagle Butte, passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at the Cheyenne River Health Center, Eagle Butte. 

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. MDT, Monday June 9, 2025, at CRST Bingo Hall, Eagle Butte. Burial will follow in the Dupris Family Cemetery, rural Eagle Butte. A wake will be 7:00 p.m., Sunday, June 8, 2025, at the bingo hall with a procession from the 4-Mile at 4:00 p.m. 

Marty Lynn Takes The Knife was born March 24, 1969, in Eagle Butte, South Dakota, to Josephine Fisherman and Tyrone Takes The Knife Sr.

Marty attended school in Eagle Butte, South Dakota and later received his GED. He was in the boxing club, played football, and also rode saddleback during his Jr. High and High School years at C-EB.  Marty received his CDL certification and then drove a school bus for C-EB.  Marty worked in construction in Rapid City for a brief period in his life, but Eagle Butte was always home to him.  He was a quiet man and didn’t want any extra attention and he will be missed by all who knew him.  

Marty is survived by his son, Jordan; brothers: Tyrone Jr (Darla) and Jerry and one sister, Tally Jo (TJ).  

He was preceded in death by his parents and older brother Larry.

Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg has been entrusted with Marty’s arrangements. 

A Wake was held on June 8, 2025 at 7:00 PM at CRST Bingo Hall, 916-934 Jefferson St, in Eagle Butte, SD 57625
