Justin D. Copier, 25, of Eagle Butte, SD passed away Sunday, July 20, 2025, in Springfield, SD.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., MDT, Thursday, July 31, 2025, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Eagle Butte. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Episcopal Cemetery, On The Tree.
Justin was adopted and survived by his mother, Dusti Copier, his father, Chad Copier and his father, Jeremy Trudell, his siblings are Marquis Martin, LaShea Whelchel and Auviyah Trudell. He has a significant number of relatives, but as of now let's talk about people who embraced him. Kate Hauck helped him meet his biological family on his dad's side and put him in the position to meet his father's family. Kate was there for him for a significant amount of time, but as time progressed, he met Amanda Weddell and Amber Lake. As he continued to meet with his biological family, he eventually met his aunt, Trista Cross. All of these women were a significant mother figure in his life and nurtured him back to his identity of being a son. As for the men in his life, Michael Chasing Horse, Verlin Jennesse, and his dad Jeremy Trudell. They were the ones who enabled him to have perceptiveness, strength and clarity.
As a child he had a tough life but was extremely resilient, courageous and forthcoming. He was passionate, compassionate and artistic. He was full of empathy, and he had a thirst for life that enabled him to explore and become everything we've all come to experience in this moment. Losing him has produced the biggest void in anyone who knew him. Without him our souls are broken. Yet we rely upon the memory of his smiles, his laughs and his thoughtfulness to heal us and give us strength through this devastating moment. So, thank you everyone for loving my son the way you have and for letting him love you. He's a beautiful person and deserves every effort anyone has made on his behalf. As you observe him, understand that this is just a shell of who he is and feel his presence. He's with us, all around us, wiping our tears as we cry, hugging our souls as we mourn, this is who Justin truly was. Honor his memory in knowing that his spirit is here to comfort everyone. We love you Justin, Rest In Power!
He was preceded in death by his biological mother, Amber McKenzie; and grandmother, Eileen Jeunesse.
