Caleb William Schuette was born June 22, 1994, in Pierre, SD, to Jerry Schuette and Amy Goodrich. He was raised on the family ranch north of Highmore and was very much a country boy from the start. He enjoyed playing on the haystacks, riding on the 4-wheeler, and just being outside getting dirty with his brother, Brennan. Caleb could always find ways to entertain himself and anyone else who was around with very little effort. He was always up for riding in the pickup with Grandpa Jim or his dad, helping out whenever and wherever he could. That helpful nature kept on going until the very day he was lost.
Caleb graduated from Highmore-Harrold High School in 2013. He lived in Pierre for a short time, making new friends, of course, and then moving to Miller, where he would live with peace, joy, trials, and tribulations, many new friends there too, and most of all, cowboy pride!
Caleb loved his family dearly and would be part of any family gathering possible, as that was what was important to him: family. He thrived on being the quirky, belly-laughing, fearless, amazingly funny young man he always had been. That’s what made him the life of the party! Caleb enjoyed making Facebook live videos. The ones with Brennan involved are extremely funny and have to be watched over and over again! When Caleb met Elen Crandall at the state fair years ago, he couldn’t have known how influential she would be in his life as an adult. Their world revolved around each other, and Elen was there for Caleb and Brennan when they lost their dad in November of 2024. He spent the last 2+ years loving and laughing with Elie, and they were indeed the cutest couple bar none!!
No one was a better brother, friend, nephew, grandson, or son than our Caleb. The bond that Caleb and Brennan had as brothers was second to none. They were best friends, partners in crime, and most of all, the dynamic duo who everyone enjoyed listening to their stories and making joy a part of any gathering. This brotherly bond will never be broken!
Caleb was working two jobs and worked them both with pride and perseverance. The Miller Press and the Good Samaritan Society of Miller were places where he flourished and shined and made many friends along the way. He received Awards of Achievement with both of these jobs and made all of us so very proud. His character and charisma made him a very well liked and loved member of both Highmore and Miller communities. He will always be known for being the man of many voices, as he was pretty good at Scooby-Doo and Mrs. Doubtfire impressions as well as many others. He actually took part in a talent show where he showed off these abilities to everyone in town!
Caleb enjoyed bull bashes and rodeos, country music of all kinds (Justin Moore being his favorite), and watching races. He just loved being among the people. He will be forever remembered and missed so dearly. We all love you, Caleb CBS Schuette, country boy swag earl james 62294! Rest in Paradise.
Caleb is cherished by his mom, Amy (Brian) Nielsen of Oacoma SD; his best friend and brother, Brennan Schuette of Miller SD; his grandparents, Clara Cisler of Mitchell SD, Mick (Darlene) Goodrich of Pierre SD, and James and Judy Schuette of Highmore SD; paternal aunts, Peggy Schlechter of Rapid City SD, and Sheri Schuette of Highmore SD; maternal aunts, Michaela (Boyd) Erickson of Mitchell SD and Amanda Goodrich of Platte SD; sisters, Rebecca Milbrandt and Courtney Schuette of Highmore SD; maternal uncle, Chad Goodrich of Sandusky OH; many cousins, friends and acquaintances that Caleb adored wholeheartedly and the amazing people with the Center for Independence in Miller where Caleb thrived and made a great life for himself!! He appreciated all of you so much!!
He was preceded in death by his dad, Jerry Schuette; his maternal and paternal great-grandparents; and many other relatives that meant so very much to Caleb.
Luze Funeral Home of Highmore has been entrusted with Caleb's arrangements.

Gonna miss you randomly showing up on Fridays not telling anyone your coming.
How do I even do this Caleb? How do I go on living without my fun-living, big-hearted nephew? We have had some amazing times, had the best talks and made some wonderful memories. I couldn’t be prouder to be your Aunt Pegs. Caleb, I promise you, I will keep loving you every day for the rest of my life. I know you and Jerry are together now, so while my heart is shattered, I’m not saying good-bye. Everyday that goes by is a day closer to when I’ll see you and your dad in Heaven. Love you bunches sweetie, your Aunt Peggy

My sweet kind boy,
How do I even begin? You are larger than life to so many and we now have to live without your quirky, belly-laughing, awesomeness! I know Jer was there to take you straight to paradise, but I wanted you here so much longer. The love Brennan, Brian and I have for you will never decrease and your memory will live on forever. This is NOT goodbye, it's see ya later tater!! With so much love, Mom.
Such a sweet kind young man, he made me laugh with his witty remarks. Caleb will be missed, my condolences.
Caleb was a nice young man to work with and always had a great smile or a joke to offer. My condolences to his family during this time. Thoughts and prayers that you all find solace in the memories in the days ahead. He was a great guy to know.
Caleb, I didn’t know you for very long but you came to help at the nursing home & when Ruger would see you he was so happy knowing he would get TLC & would wag his tail knowing his friend was there. I am so sorry your life was cut so short but from our chats I knew you missed your dad so much!! Now you are with him & Im sure he welcomed you with a huge hug!! Going to miss seeing you – God Bless ❤️
Caleb, we held a special bond your whole life. One that was full of love and laughter. I heard your first belly laugh. Laughed at your first words (gerta-gerta-gerta!) I could make that beautiful head of wavy hair of yours sky high with mousse when you’d let me! That James Brown song will always remind me of you, even though you hated it! Your smile, laugh, sense of humor, raps, videos and love will live on forever. I’m sure your dad greeted you with open arms & “goofball!” Watch over & protect us as we all keep your memory alive. There will always be an empty seat at family gatherings, but we know you’ll be there with us. I love you.
“I’ll love you forever. I’ll like you for always. As long as I’m living, my baby you’ll be.”

It has been a pleasure meeting and getting to know Caleb as he came to support Elie and his friends on the Heartland Hunters Special Olympics team. He always had a good story, and was great at encouraging the athletes that were competing. He will be missed by many. Rest Easy Caleb, we will be here to support Elie.
