Rita Danielson, 81, of Miller, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 29, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Miller, with Father Brian Eckrich officiating. Burial will follow at St. Ann’s Cemetery. Rita Ann was born on April 1, 1944, in Miller, SD, to Walter and Florence (Manning) Danielson. She attended Helen Buchanan School in Huron, SD.
Diagnosed with cerebral palsy at an early age, Rita faced challenges that many believed she would not overcome. But with fierce determination — and the unwavering support of her parents — she defied the odds and lived a life full of resilience and joy.
Rita was deeply devoted to her faith and active in her church community. She cherished time with her family and found joy in everyday tasks, whether it was painting corral fences or the farmhouse — always reaching as high as she could before letting someone else take over. A talented cook and baker, Rita especially loved making cookies, filling her home with warmth and the smell of something sweet.
After her mother passed, Rita continued to live independently on the family farm, a testament to her strong spirit and determination.
She is survived by her brothers: Bob Danielson, Miller, SD, and Jim Danielson, Brooklyn Center, MN; sister, Marilyn Danielson Morris, Bettendorf, IA; sister-in-law, Kay Danielson, Billings, MT; nieces and nephews: Steve Morris, Terry Morris, Lisa and Mike Coleman, Kirk and Molly Danielson, Kari and Jason LaRue, and Korey and Teresa Danielson.
Preceded in death are her parents, Florence and Walter Danielson; brother, Ken Danielson; brother-in-law, Tod Morris; and sister-in-law, Tina Danielson.
The family wishes to thank all who have helped at this difficult time.
Reck Funeral Home of Miller has been entrusted with Rita’s arrangements.
