Edith “Edie” I. Iron Moccasin, 76, of Eagle Butte, Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Cheyenne River Health Center, Eagle Butte.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. MST, Saturday, March 7, 2026, at All Saints Catholic Church, Eagle Butte with Fr. John Paul Trask presiding. Burial will follow in the Eagle Butte Cemetery. A wake service will be 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 6, 2026, at the church with a procession from the 4-Mile at 4:00 p.m.

Edie (Jewett) Iron Moccasin was born to Stanley Jewett and Annabell (Thompson) Morgan on November 11, 1949, at the Old Cheyenne Agency. She began her journey on February 21, 2026, at the Cheyenne River Health Center, surrounded by family.

Her early years were spent in Pierre. She started school at the Pierre Indian School and later transferred to Cheyenne Eagle Butte. Edie grew up on Little Cottonwood Creek on the family ranch.

In 1969, she married the love of her life, Thomas “Lionel” Iron Moccasin. To this union two children were born, Jeanette and Aubrey. In 1991, she adopted her granddaughter, Jessica, who she raised as her daughter. Thomas and Edie made their home in Eagle Butte, where she remained until her passing.

Edie began her employment at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church (All Saints Catholic Church), Eagle Butte, in 1985. She retired in 2021 after working there for 36 years.

She had many friends and touched a lot of lives throughout her lifetime. Even if she didn’t know you, she greeted everyone with a smile and a hello.

Edie is survived by her loving husband, Thomas; two daughters, Jeanette (Marvette) Oldman and Jessica (Nolan) Charger; son, Aubrey (Dolly) Iron Moccasin; five sisters: Ramona McLane, Tillie (Richard) Charging Eagle, Charlene (Leonard) Anderson, Ethel Morgan, and Willetta (Henry) Ducheneaux; brother, Harley (Carol) Morgan; 14 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Stanley Jewett and Annabell Morgan and stepfather, Harold Morgan; sisters, Josephine Jewett and Eleanor Miner; brother, Terrace Jewett; hunka brother, Ted Eagle Sr.; and grandson, Anthony Iron Moccasin.

Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg has been entrusted with Edie’s arrangements.
