Joni A. Bowker, 60, of LaPlant, entered the spirit world Friday, June 5, 2026, at Monument Health Hospital, Rapid City.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. MDT, Monday, June 15, 2026, at Tiospaye Topa School, LaPlant. Burial will follow in the Congregational Cemetery, LaPlant. Wake services will be 6:00 p.m., Sunday, June 14, 2026, with a procession from 2-Mile east of LaPlant at 4:00 p.m.

Joni Ann Bowker was born February 6, 1966, in Eagle Butte, SD, to Dorothy Lee and Jonas Bowker Jr. She attended school at Swiftbird Day School, Crow Creek and Eagle Butte, later receiving her GED. While living in LaPlant, Joni enjoyed her time with her children, family, and friends.

Joni worked various jobs throughout her lifetime. She will be remembered as a kindhearted soul with a heart of gold, who always had a smile on her face, and a helping hand to those in need.

Joni is survived by her children: Cody Hill, Dawson, Kristi, Krystal, and Lyle Fire Cloud Jr.; grandchildren: Jordan, Demetri, and Jesse Hill, A’shaye, Ada, Araina, Amena, Ameria, Aysin, Zayne and Jericho Fire Cloud, Deja and Dante Brown, Chloe and Nevada Fire Cloud; sisters: Darlene, Darial, Lisa, and Shelly Bowker, Dixie LeCompte; brothers: Harley, Lester, Ronnie Bowker; and special friend, Lyle Fire Cloud Sr.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Dorothy and Jonas Bowker Jr.; sisters: Jerilyn and Orally Bowker; son, Shawn Brown; nephews: Eric Scott, Royce Bowker, Sheldon Bowker, Dion Rosas; niece, Roxanne Rosas; aunt, Darlene Rosas; grandson, Isiah Iron Wing; sister-in-law, Tamera Bowker; and brother-in-law, Stanford Fire Cloud Sr.

Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg has been entrusted with Joni’s arrangements.
