Kenneth K. Madison

Kenneth K. Madison, 67, of Thunderbutte, made his journey to the spirit world on Friday, July 31, 2026, in Thunder Butte, SD, to be reunited with his daughter, January, his wife, Willa Madison and his many relatives and loved ones who made their journey before him,

Kenneth Madison was born on July 27, 1959, to Lucille I. Young, Crow, Madison, Black Dog and George Madison. He grew in the On The Tree community. Throughout his life, Kenny lived in several communities, including Little Eagle, Timber Lake, Thunder Butte, Eagle Butte and Lower Brule, South Dakota. He worked many jobs, including working with horses and as a jockey for the Claymore family.

Following the passing of his daughter, January Jo Madison, on March 26, 2020, Kenny lived off and on in Lower Brule with Kamela, Wilma, and Jessica Wilson. Lower Brule held a special place in his heart, and he always felt that it was his home.

Kenny was a Lakota man who spoke the Lakota language and believed strongly in his culture and traditional values. He had family in many different communities and liked spending time with them. He was known and loved by many. He loved the Lord, and he enjoyed being with his family of God.

Kenny is survived by his daughter, Georgianne Madison; brother, Marles Madison and family; Deanna Gomez and family, Monica Jewett and family, Brian Swift Cloud and family, Christopher Makes Him First and family, Noami Baken and family, Georgie Baken and family, Jordan Baken and family, Lolly Crow, Tammy Crow and family, Kirk Crow and family, James Madison and family; along with numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Willa Madison; daughter, January Madison; sisters, Mary Jane Madison, Georgianne Madison, and Janis Madison; brothers, Arnold Madison and Larry Rufus Crow; uncle, Albert Madison; nieces, Brenda Viet, Lakota Rose Madison, Luci Makes Him First, Duchess Standing Bear, Kellyn Swift Cloud; nephews, Lou Crow, Asa Crow, Lawrence Crow lll, Byers Baken, and Leon Madison; grandson, David Shillingstad lll; along with other beloved relatives that went before him.

Kenny will be remembered for the life he lived, the Lakota language and culture he carried, his love for horses, and the many relatives and friends he made along the way. His wish was to return home to Lower Brule, the place he considered home. That wish will be honored.  May his journey to the Spirit World be peaceful and may his relatives who went before him welcome him home. Toksa ake, Leksi
