Audrey was born on March 16, 1938, in Miller, South Dakota to Helen M. and Lawrence J. Sommer. She attended school in Miller all her life and graduated from Miller High School in 1956. Audrey was valedictorian and Homecoming Queen her senior year. She married her high school sweetheart, Ronald D. Campbell, on June 8, 1957. After Ron graduated from law school, they lived and worked in several cities in South Dakota before settling in Miller to raise their family in 1967. To this union, three children were born: Jerus, Jodi, and Julie. Audrey devoted her life to raising her children and later worked at Quoin Financial Bank where she was the friendly face of the bank’s drive-through until her retirement.
For most of her 84 years, Audrey lived in and loved Miller. Her Catholic faith was a big part of her life. She was an active member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church and St. Ursula’s Altar Society. She enjoyed her bridge club and P.E.O. Chapter AK sisterhood and cherished the memories and time spent with her most special friends. Along with enthusiastically supporting her children in all their events, Audrey was also an avid Miller Rustlers, USD Coyotes, and Minnesota Vikings fan. Her family loved her cooking, especially all the amazing holiday treats that filled her front porch each December.
Audrey is survived by one brother, J. David Sommer; a son, Jerus (Janelle) of Tea, SD; two daughters: Jodi (Shannon) Schultz of Clive, IA and Julie Hintgen of Spearfish, SD; loving grandchildren: Jessica, Jerus “Jake”, Alex, Beau, Chaz, Sam, Chelsea, Elizabeth Grace, and Zachary; as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Helen and Lawrence Sommer; siblings: Raphael, Alvin, Jenise, Adeline, Mary, and Judith; husband, Ron; sister-in-law, Karen Rose; and numerous relatives and dear friends.
Reck Funeral Home of Miller has been entrusted with Audrey's arrangements.

Jerus and family, My thoughts and prayers are with you. I remember meeting your Mom and Dad many times but remember one time in particular when she had made soup for us when we stopped by the house in Miller. I remember her every time when I make the Taco Soup recipe she shared with me. May your memories provide comfort of this wonderful lady and the love she had for her children.
Sharing your deep sorrow and wishing you comfort and peace.
Very sorry to hear about your mother. I have fond memories of bringing my monthly paper route money to the bank and she was always the one there to help. She always greeted the Gilk boys with a wave and a smile and was so very kind to us.
