February 13, 1943 ~ October 30, 2021

Carol Andru, 78, from Wessington passed away October 30, 2021, near Wolsey.

Carol Lee Andru was born in Chadron, Nebraska on February 13, 1943, to parents Emma (Waggener) and Eddie Roberts.  She moved to California with her family at the age of two and grew up in Alameda. She graduated from Alameda High School in 1960. She was married to John Andru in 1964. Together they had three children: Mark, Todd, and Deanna.

She moved again with her family in 1974 to Boulder, Colorado, which quickly became their hometown.

Carol started out working at Beech Aircraft, but eventually went on to work at the University of Colorado Memorial Center on the Boulder campus in their accounting department.  She loved her career at the University as it allowed her to keep up with the vibrant campus culture. She retired in 2002.

Carol was a vivacious and free-spirited woman who loved travel and adventure. She enjoyed creating art and was an avid gardener. She was a true social butterfly who befriended everyone she met.  Above all else, Carol loved her family and was blessed with many grandchildren and great grandchildren, of whom she was beyond proud.

She is survived by her son Todd (wife, Lynnette) and their children Danielle Cicairos and Jaxon Andru, Dylan, Jordan, and Riley Adams; her departed son, Mark's (wife, Jan) children: Mark, Chris, and Josh Andru, as well as Danielle Strafford and Alyssa Traywick; her departed daughter, Deanna's children Samantha and Daniel Evans; brother, Eddie Roberts; and sister; Donna Nielsen.

Anyone who met Carol knew how generous she was. She loved giving to others.

In lieu of flowers, her family is requesting donations to the following organizations:

  1. Wessington Cares, which distributes food to those in need within the community of Wessington and surrounding areas. If you choose this donation, please write a check made out to "Wessington Cares" and mail to:

There will be a funeral held jointly for Carol and Deanna on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at 2:00 pm. It will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Wessington. Anyone from the community who wishes to attend will be welcome, as well as family.

Because we realize also that many will not be able to secure travel arrangements on such short notice, the family is also organizing a celebration of life for a later date, and will welcome all who wish to attend. Information will be provided to all when the details have been arranged.

Reck Funeral Home of Miller has been entrusted with Carol's arrangements. Visit www.familyfuneralhome.net.
