Caroline Middletent

Caroline “Sam” Viola Middletent, 72, of Fort Thompson, passed away Saturday, November 7, 2020 at her home.
Funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 14, 2020 at Diamond Willow Church in Fort Thompson. Burial followed at All Saints Cemetery, Fort Thompson.
Caroline “Sam” Viola Middletent was born March 16, 1948 to Adeline (Red Day) and Ernest Middletent, Sr. in Pierre, South Dakota. Caroline lived in Fort Thompson and Pierre throughout her entire lifetime. Caroline was blessed with three children who had became angels at a very young age.
She was a hard worker and worked at various places of employment during her life. Her most memorable jobs were working at Crow Creek Tribal Schools Dormitory as the girls’ dormitory staff and house parents at Red Horse Lodge. Caroline also enjoyed cooking and always had a “meal” for anyone that stopped by to visit. Caroline enjoyed meeting new people and making friends. You can “take a drive” with Caroline and stop somewhere and she will tell you about someone she knows that lives there.
She had many friends who will miss her greatly.
Surviving her are her brothers: Ernest Gary Middletent, Jr. of Rapid City and David and Winfred (Soby) Middletent of Fort Thompson; nephews: Steven (Diz) Middletent of Fort Thompson, Christopher Middletent of Rapid City, Treon (Naomi) Middletent of Rapid City, John Middletent of Bismarck, North Dakota, Thomas Middletent of Fort Thompson, Victor Middletent of Fort Thompson, Lucas Middletent of Fort Thompson, Bruce Azure of Stephan, Darrel (Cocoa) Azure of Fort Thompson, and Daniel (Mick) Azure of Fort Thompson; nieces: Carrie Middletent of Rapid City, DeAnna Eare of Rapid City, Georgett Dillon of Rapid City, Ronnette Norton of Rapid City, Merri “Bear” Martel-Brown Otter of Mobridge, Marquita Caldwell-Witt of Tennessee, and Aris Crazy Bull of Tennessee; nephews: Jamie Norton of Fort Thompson, Allen Middletent of Fort Thompson, Weldon Middletent of Sioux Falls, James Caldwell of Hermosa, Jason Weaver of Kansas; cousin, Donna (Ron) Martel of Mobridge; and many grandchildren.
Caroline was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Adeline Middletent; brothers: Frederick, Donald, Stanford, Winfred, and Victor Middletent; sisters: Ernestine Azure, Victorine Middletent, Irene Middletent, and Ruth Middletent; and her three children: Janelle, Henry, and Calvin Middletent.
Luze Funeral Home of Highmore has been entrusted with Caroline’s arrangements.

I meant couple Sam couple times thru my grandma Marlene bowker. Her and my grandma had a wonderful friendship. Sam was such a lovely lady. Both ladies were taken to soon. Sending my prayers to Sam family.
