Carson Thomas Miner was born in Huron, South Dakota January 17, 2006 to Cecilee (Niederauer) and Thomas Miner. He was baptized at the First Presbyterian Church in Miller and confirmed in 2018. He was a 9th grader at Miller High School.
Carson was a member of Miller Rustler Yearbook staff, FCCLA, Robotics, Miller student golf league, Hand County Historical Society student representative, the Dakota Riptide swim team and an active member of the senior Presbyterian youth group. He loved everything to do with music, especially jazz band and chorus. Carson loved his freedom especially when it came to driving and hanging out with friends. He could be seen most often playing Dungeons and Dragons, driving around in his car, playing his guitars, and dueling with light sabers. Anyone who knew him knew his affinity to constantly question or debate all topics. He will always be remembered as a self-proclaimed geek “not nerd” with a personality full of humor who loved to be his own person and embraced his own style and individuality.
His memory will be cherished by his parents, Cecilee and Tom Miner of Miller; sisters: Chloe, Arielle, and Quinnley; grandparents, Christina and John Niederauer and Helen and Hugh Miner; and uncles, aunts, and cousins: uncle, Gregory (Connie) Niederauer and children, George and Ainsley; Laura Willemssen and children, Madeline and Bessie; aunt, Emma (Mike) Jouwstra and son, Oren; uncle, Bill (Chessa) Miner and children: Grace, Olivia, and Sophia; aunt, Patty (Chris) Kerkhove and children: Cameron (Tracy), Crystal, Cassie, and Conner Kerkhove ; aunt, Monica Miner Wingo and children, Dylan Wingo and child, Maddie; and, Marilyn Wingo and child, Alice.
He was preceded in death by his maternal great grandparents, George and Leona Engelmann, Bernita and George Niederauer, Loretta and Bud McMahan, and Alice and Paul Miner; and uncle, Dan Miner.
Reck Funeral Home of Miller has been entrusted with Carson's arrangements.

Back when I lived in Miller I knew I was gay but never wanted to say anything because I was scared. I was scared because I thought that I would be different. Then Carson came out. I looked up to Carson. Knowing that there was someone like me I was able to come out right before I moved. I would like to thank Carson for that even if he never knew about this. I also send prayers to the whole family.
I haven’t known him long. We met somewhere in July-October. We grew close to each other. I was his “second mate” as he would say. And I considered him my second mate too. I’ll miss him forever. He was a great guy. My condolences and prayers to his family and other people in his life
