Charles Hadrick, 79, of Faulkton, passed away Monday, March 12, 2012 at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital in Aberdeen.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 15, 2012 at the United Church of Faulkton with Pastor Bill Hoffman officiating.  Burial followed at the Faulkton Cemetery with military honors.  Visitation was held from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at Luce Funeral Home, Faulkton with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service the church with masonic rites.

Charles Louis Hadrick was born on April 7, 1932, in Faulkton to Bertha (Elliott) and Louis Hadrick.  He attended elementary school at the Walgamuth Country School and High School in Faulkton. 

Charles enlisted in the Army in 1952 and served in the Korean War.  He was discharged in 1953.  Following his discharge from the Army he farmed near Faulkton. 

On Sept. 26, 1954, he married Ardyce (Witte) in Faulkton where they made their home.  They owned Chuck’s Pheasant Food Market.  Charles went to work at Kegler’s Farm Equipment, later purchasing the dealership which then became the Faulkton Farm Store.  He retired in 2004.

Charles will be remembered for the way he gave of his time to the Faulkton community.  He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Masons, Eastern Star, Shriners, Odd Fellows, Jesters and the Faulkton United Methodist Church.  Charles served on the city council and was a past fireman and EMT.  Charles enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren and great grand children.  Charles was always involved in Case IH Equipment and was a collector of the toy tractors.  Charles was an avid racing fan and involved in racing for many years at the Miller Speedway, Huron Speedway and in more recent years especially liked attending the races at the Brown County Speedway.  He was a familiar face at the tracks in the area and helped pit for his son Larry during his racing career. 

Charles will be missed by his wife of 57 years, Ardyce; his four children:  Lester (Gloria) Hadrick of Sioux Falls; Larry (Laurie) Hadrick of Aberdeen; Duane (Deb) Hadrick of Faulkton and Betty (Tim) Geist of Conde.  His eight grandchildren: Josie (Rich) Benz; Angie (Rich) Barnett; Derek (Krista) Hadrick; Nathan Hadrick, Emily Hadrick, Chris (Erica) Hadrick; Shanna Geist and Andee Geist.  His great-grandchildren: Colton and Keelynn Barnett; and Ashton Hadrick.  He is also survived by his brothers Donald (Jean) Hadrick; Harold (Jan) Hadrick; Robert (Marilyn) Hadrick and many nieces and nephews. 

Charles was preceded in death by his parents and an infant grandson, Gabriel Geist.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested for the Shriners transportation fund, PO Box 296, Faulkton, SD 57438; which helps transport families to the Shriners Hospitals for medical Services.

  11. Sorry for your loss. I’ve known Chuck for 40+ years. Meet him when he worked for Keglers. We had the IH store in G’Burg. Our paths crossed at American Legion events also. Always considered him a good friend and a special person.
