Charlotte J. LaBlanc, 73, of Eagle Butte, passed away Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at Monument Health, Rapid City.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. MDT, Monday, May 3, 2021 at CRST Bingo Hall, Eagle Butte with Pastor Sam Owens presiding. A wake service will be at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, May 2, 2021 at the bingo hall with a procession from the 4-Mile at 4:00 p.m.
Charlotte June LaBlanc was born July 29, 1947 in Old Cheyenne Agency, SD to Edward and Juanita (Useful Heart) LaBlanc. She attended school at Eagle Butte and was currently working towards her G.E.D.
Her first marriage was to Frank Baker Sr. Together they had Juanita, Dawn and Frank Jr. She later met Charles Baker and together they had Brenda. In later years, she and Bruce Bear Eagle welcomed Timothy and Lynn.
Charlotte loved working with little children. She gave many years to helping at the local daycare. She also worked as a waitress and dishwasher for local restaurants. She would spend her free time paging through newspapers or magazines, looking for recipes or articles about home care.
Her faith in the Lord was unwavering. Charlotte would attend church services at least five times a week wherever she was able to find them. However, Wednesday and Sunday she could always be found at her church, Eagle Wings Baptist.
Charlotte is survived by her children: Juanita, Dawn and Frank Baker, Brenda Fernandez, Timothy Bear Eagle and Lynn Chasing Hawk; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and one brother, Dion Young.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one grandchild; brothers, Robert, Phillip “Roy”, Oliver, and Melvin; and sisters: Isabel, Josephine, Ethel, Lillian, Theresa, Emmaline, and Darlene.
Luce Funeral Home has been entrusted with Charlotte’s arrangements.
