December 4, 1949 ~ June 26, 2025

Curtis Charles Bierman, 75, of Aberdeen, SD, passed away on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at his home, surrounded by the love of his devoted wife, family, and friends.

A celebration of life will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 3, 2025, at Schriver’s Mortuary, Aberdeen. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Aberdeen. Visitation will be one-hour prior to the service.

Curtis was born December 4, 1949, to Ray and Rachel (Johnson) Bierman in Faulkton, SD. His early life was at Grandpa Chester Johnson’s farm, east and north of Faulkton; and in Tacoma Park where his parents ran a country store. The five siblings agree it was a wonderful place to spend their early years. Curtis attended country school from kindergarten through third grade. The rest of his school years were in Faulkton, SD. He graduated from Faulkton High School in 1968.

Curt was a courageous and dedicated member of the army and 452nd Ordnance Company Army Reserve unit, serving in Vietnam, Berlin, Germany as a helicopter crew chief, and Desert Storm. He had a fulfilling career at NWPS, Ride Line, Midwest Security and the Adjustment Training Center (ATC). He met the love of his life, Nancy (Krause) Hausvik, while working at the ATC. They married July 13, 1991, in Aberdeen, SD.  After Curtis retired, he enjoyed spending time with his brother working on a variety of construction projects together. Curtis was also selected and honored to participate in the May 6, 2025, Midwest Honor Flight, where he got the opportunity to fly to D.C. with fellow veterans.

Curtis and Nancy raised her daughter, Melissa and son, Ryan, and nurtured their grandson Kayden Izenberg, who brought immense joy to his life. Curt’s passions included cherishing time with family, camping, playing solitaire on his computer, and watching ‘Forensic Files.’ Curt’s remarkable expertise in cars was a testament to his ingenuity and determination.

Curtis is survived by his loving wife, Nancy; stepdaughter, Melissa (Luay) Ali of Pipestone, MN; stepson, Ryan (Aaron) Hausvik of Portland, OR; sisters: Karen Collins and Carleen Cross of Faulkton, SD, and Orene (Thyris) Taylor of Omaha, NE; brother, Craig Bierman of Faulkton, SD; grandchildren: Kayden Izenberg of Aberdeen, SD,  Ameer and Laila Ali of Pipestone, MN, and Dejae and Heaven Hausvik of Portland, OR; and his many nieces and nephews. Curt will be deeply missed by all of his family and friends.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Raymond and Rachel Bierman; father and mother-in-law: Alvin “Bud” and June Krause; brother-in-law, Dennis Collins; and grandson, Ethan Izenberg.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Curtis may be made to Midwest Honor Flight at midwesthonorflight.org or PO Box 22, Sioux Center, IA 51250. He would be honored for us to help other veterans experience this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
