Darlene D. LeBeau, 87, of Eagle Butte, passed away Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Avera St. Mary’s Hospital, Pierre.

A committal service was held at 2:00p.m. MST, Monday, December 18, 2017 at Black Hills National Cemetery, Sturgis, SD.

Darlene Dolores Martin was born July 24, 1930 in Eagle Butte, SD to Louis and Gertrude (Sciford) Martin. She attended school in Eagle Butte, graduating in 1948.

In 1948, Darlene was united in marriage to Ernest “Bud” Johnson in Dewey County, SD. To this union six children were born.

Darlene worked as a clerk for the United States Postal Service for 27 years, retiring in 1992. She also spent 21 years working for the Sacred Heart Women’s Shelter. In her younger years, she worked various other jobs in the Eagle Butte area.

In 1980, she was united in marriage to Frederick Felix LeBeau. They made their home on the west side of Eagle Butte. Here Darlene enjoyed bowling on local leagues, gardening, crocheting and making blankets. She enjoyed making them for her friends, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her life is her husband, Frederick LeBeau of Eagle Butte; her sons: Randy (Alyce) and Richard (Jackie) Johnson all of Wellington, TX; her daughters: Barb Hinzman of Brandon, Betty (Kreg) Warrick of Piedmont, Diane (Tom) Gesinger of Ridgeview, and Janelle (Kurt) Kolb of Leola; 22 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; brothers: Wayne (Toot) Martin of Custer and Avin (JoAnn) Martin of Piedmont; sisters: Lynelle (Larry) Miles of Albuquerque, NM and Marjorie Sivertson of Minot, ND; sister-in-law: Delia Martin of Albuquerque, NM; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one infant son; son-in-law, Jerry Hinzman; great-grandson, Wyatt Gesinger; sister, Florence (Donald) Miller; brothers: Harvey (Agnes) Martin and Kenny Martin; brother-in-law, Galen Sivertson; and previous husband, Ernest “Bud” Johnson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the UCC Church, PO Box 300, Eagle Butte, SD 57625.

Luce Funeral Chapel of Eagle Butte has been entrusted with Darlene’s arrangements.

 

 

A Graveside Service was held on December 18, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Black Hills National Cemetery, 20901 Pleasant Valley Drive in Sturgis, South Dakota 57785

She had been in my thoughts this past week for some reason as I was remembering the good times we had bowling and going to Weight Watchers when I lived in Eagle Butte. I just found out today that she had gone on to the next life. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Eileen Malcolm

    I have just found that Darlene Passed away in Dec 2017, so sorry to find this out, as a child I boarded with her family to go to school, , her and Florence was staying in Eagle Butte going to high School, So very sorry I have missed her so much on not knowing she had gone on to Heaven. My Sympathy goes out to her family.
