Deanna Andru
May 3, 1966 ~ October 30, 2021
Deanna Lynn Andru was born on May 3, 1966, in Walnut Creek, California, to parents John and Carol Andru. She had two older brothers, Mark and Todd Andru. She relocated with her family in 1974 to Boulder, Colorado, where she grew up. She graduated from Boulder High School, class of 1984, and went on to pursue first her Bachelor of Business Administration at Regis Jesuit University, and then a master's in graphic design at the University of Colorado in Boulder.
Following the death of her son Joseph Evans in 2018, Deanna moved to the town of Wessington, South Dakota, in order to be closer to her mother. There, she worked at the local post office.
On October 30, 2021, Deanna and Carol were on their way to dinner in Huron when they were struck head-on in a fatal collision.
Deanna was a generous and large-hearted person, whose life was full of laughter and adventure. She loved to read, grow plants in her home and garden, and cook creative meals for friends and family.
She is survived by her daughter, Samantha Evans; son, Daniel Evans; father, John Andru; and brother, Todd Andru, as well as countless family and friends whom she loved deeply, and who will miss her dearly.
She also left behind five cats who brought her so much light and joy: Tesla, Koko, Breeze, Charlie, and Jiggy. Her family is working with All Cats Rescue out of Sioux Falls, who are a no-kill foster organization run by volunteers.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to this organization so we can ensure they receive the continued love and care Deanna would have wanted. Donations can be provided here: https://www.allcatsrescue.org/donate
There will be a funeral held jointly for Carol and Deanna on Saturday, November 6, 2021, at 2:00 pm. It will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Wessington. Anyone from the community who wishes to attend will be welcome, as well as family.
Because we realize also that many will not be able to secure travel arrangements on such short notice, the family is also organizing a celebration of life for a later date and will welcome all who wish to attend. Information will be provided to all when the details have been arranged.
Reck Funeral Home of Miller has been entrusted with Deanna's arrangements. Visit www.familyfuneralhome.net.

I miss my long time friend of so many years ago, all the adventures we went on, all the crazy fun times. When we were young she was like a sister to me, although younger then me I found myself following her around from adventure to adventure. Sigh, a bright candle has gone out. Peace and Blessed Be my friend. Kristi
