Donald Lee Grace, 84, of St. Lawrence, passed away, Thursday, December 8, 2011 at Avera Hand County Hospital in Miller.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 12, 2011 at First United Methodist Church, Miller with Rev. Mary Ann Sheldon officiating. Burial followed in G.A.R. Cemetery, Miller. Visitation was held  from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, December 11, 2011 at Reck Funeral Home, Miller.

Don was born January 29, 1927 in Palmer, Nebraska to Cecil and Bernice (Eckles) Grace. He attended school in Palmer, NE. Don ran the local Bowling Alley and later farmed in that area.

He married Maxine Anderson in Palmer, NE on October 15, 1950. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1949 and served overseas during the Korean Conflict. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart.


In 1953 Don and Maxine moved to Miller, SD where he farmed for over 40 years. In 1993 they retired and moved to St. Lawrence, SD.


Don is survived by his wife Maxine of St. Lawrence; his children: Curt Grace and Kelly Arbeiter both of Miller; his grandchildren: Amber (Clay) of Volga, Andy of Huron, Ashley of Aberdeen and Jacob and Hannah of Miller.


He was preceded in death by his parents and two grandsons, Dustin and Shelby.


Reck Funeral Home of Miller has been entrusted with Donald’s arrangements.
