Eileen Jannet Russell was born on August 18, 1933, to John and Leontina (Bitterman) Renner in Wessington Springs, South Dakota. She grew up in Ree Heights, where she attended school.
On April 12, 1953, Eileen married the love of her life, Herb Russell. Together, they built a life filled with love and laughter, raising four children: Larry, Dennis, Bev, and Marty.
Eileen was a dedicated worker, known for her time as a waitress at Lips Diner, running a small café, and her 15-year career at Miller Hospital. Her hard work was matched only by her enthusiasm for life. She and Herb shared a passion for camping and were proud members of The Good Sam Camping Club.
Later in life, Eileen enjoyed playing cards and Bingo with friends at the Manor, as well as sharing coffee and conversation at The Ranch Cafe. She was an avid collector of knick-knacks, with her impressive collection of over 800 salt and pepper shakers serving as a testament to her joy in the little things.
Eileen was also a dedicated member of her community, serving with the Miller Fire Department Auxiliary, the VFW Auxiliary, and as a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her children: Dennis (Bev) Russell, Beverly (Terry) Jenner, and Marty Russell; daughter-in-law, Jane Russell; brother, Wilbert (Eleanor) Renner; sister-in-law, Darlene Tonsager; 8 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herb; son, Larry; grandson, Tony; and brother, Bernard.
Reck Funeral Home of Miller has been entrusted with Eileen's arrangements.

A hard working woman who never let her disability slow her down. Her life was well lived without having traveled the world….small town living and a circle of friends and family was her world.
My sincere sympathy to the family of Eileen Russell.
Our sympathy to the family she was a very dedicated VFW auxiliary member will be missed.
