Gary Marrowbone, Jr., 55, of Red Scaffold and formerly of Cherry Creek, entered the spirit world, Thursday, October 29, 2020, at his home in Red Scaffold.

In compliance with the CRST Tribal Directives, private family services will be held Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at the Blue Gym, Cherry Creek. Burial with military honors will be at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Cemetery following the services.

Gary Lee Marrowbone Jr. was born September 19, 1966 to Gary Sr., and Linda Yellow Owl Marrowbone. He attended elementary school at Cherry Creek Day School and Red Scaffold Day School. He graduated from Crow Creek High School on May 30, 1964.

On May 17, 1988, Sgt. Gary Marrowbone Jr. enlisted into the United State Army. He did his basic training at Fort Ord, CA with the 13th Engineer Battalion. He was a Combat Engineer and served in Operation Just Cause Panama (1989) and Operation Desert Storm (1990). Gary was discharge from the Army in 1992, after serving four years. He moved to New Mexico in 1994 and enlisted in New Mexico National Guard, Gallup, NM from 1996-2004. He went to Operation Iraq Freedom on April 22, 2003. He served in Iraq with the 116th Transportation Company out of Fort Bliss, TX.

Gary received the following awards: Humanitarian Ribbon, Southwest Asian Ribbon, Non-Commissioned Army Ribbon, National Defense Ribbon, Army Achievement Ribbon, Army Expedition Medal, and the Army Joint Service Ribbons.

Gary married Lisa Condon. From this union they had Ryan, Ashlee, Dustin, and stillborn infant Dayton Scott. He met Bobbie McGhee and to their union a son, Gary III “Yamni” was born. Later he married Dora Begay, to their union a son, Garrett and a daughter Cheyenne were born. He had a special friend, Dawn Dupris whom he shared his life with for the past eight years. He also had a stepdaughter, MaKenzie Dupris.

Gary is survived his children: Ryan (Kayla), Ashlee, Dustin, Gary III “Yamni”, Garrett, and Cheyenne; grandchildren: Treyson, Kylie, Angel, Lareina, Wayman, Dace, Alayiah, Garrett Jr., Malakai, and Kaiu; siblings: Ophelia (Billy) Dupris, Edna (Harold) Tyndall, Dewey Marrowbone, Germaine LeClaire, Scott Marrowbone, and Jerzy Ward; and aunts and uncles: Roland and Barb Roach and Russell Benoist.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dayton Scott; brothers: Orville, Royce, and Justin; sister, Erma Marrowbone; aunt, Pauline Eagle Chasing; special cousins: Delema Eagle Chasing and DeAnn Demery; and his grandparents: David and Hannah (Slow) Marrowbone, Bessie Yellow Owl and Charles Fisherman.

Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg has been entrusted with Gary's arrangements.

    You were a wonderful/thoughtful person. Thank you many memories from helping decorate for parties to washing the dishes.  Can’t forget all the graduation receptions, you guys would tear up the dance floor. Thank you for the memories.
