Gladys Jane was born November 21, 1926, to Bert and Precious (Almond) Evans.  She attended Hiland Center rural school and graduated from St. Lawrence High School in 1943.  After attending college in Wessington Springs for teaching, Gladys taught in the rural school of Hiland Township for four years beginning at age seventeen.

On March 2, 1947, she married Howard Jensen and moved to a farm near Hetland, South Dakota and then returned to Hiland township in 1948.  This is where she would spend the next 70 years.  Before Howard passed away in 1984, they were blessed with six children: Curt, Kenny, Alan, Jane, Greg, and Daryl.

On August 15, 1993, Gladys remarried to Ivan Reynolds.  She and Ivan loved to travel and had many adventures together before he passed away in 2002.

Gladys was a faithful listener to the Christian Worship Hour and a member of the St. Lawrence TOPS chapter for over 30 years.  She enjoyed music and she loved to sing, although she would always say her greatest love would always be her family.

A fond memory for the Jensen family will always be lunchtime at Gladys' home.  Everyday at  4:30 p.m., she always had coffee, cookies, cakes or tea ready for the family to enjoy before chores.

Gladys is survived by her children: Curt (Elyse), Kenny, Alan, Jane (Joel) Warren, Daryl (Rosie); daughter-in-law, Barb Jensen; grandchildren: Eric (Stephanie), Matt, Melissa (Christopher) Suiters, Rick (Hiddy) Heinz, Chris (Lisa) Heinz, Carmen (Cody) Bartells, Heidi, Sara (Tim) Opheim, Joe (Kim), Laura (Blayne) Baloun, David (Karen), Theresa (Cody) Marzahn, Katie (Eric) Decker, Daniel, Shawn (Ellen) Tobin, Cody (Kelli) Tobin, Colin (Angie) Tobin, Culley (Rachel Robertson) Tobin; great grandchildren: Sara, Zoey, Corbin, Delaney, Jonathan Suiters, Taite and Brayton Heinz, Tyson, Oakley and Easton Bartells, Charlee, Kynlee, and Jacen, Brecken and Brayden Baloun, Ryder, Preslie, Brooks and Quinn, Rylee and Cade Marzahn, Maddie and Allie Decker, Abbie (Joey) Pedeliski, Cody Jensen, Payton and Drake Tobin and Colm Tobin and many other relatives and neighbors.

  2. I can hardly express in words my sadness at the loss of my Grandma. I wish I could have been closer to her. I have great memories though. My fondest memories when I was young, she would make cookies and let me lick the bowl. Getting eggs from the chicken coop (when it was there)  was always my favorite. Also the best part of staying at Grandmas was that we got to put sugar on our cereal. 😁. She  will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

  3. Really wish I could be there. Miss you Gramma.

  4. So sorry for your loss. Prayers for you and your family.
