Harold Mundt
September 26, 1925 ~ February 23, 2011
Harold Mundt, 85, of Agar, passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at his home east of Agar.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, February 28, 2011 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Onida, with Pastor Brian Lemcke officiating. Burial followed in the Onida Cemetery.
Harold Carl Mundt, was born on September 26, 1925 to Carl and Addie (Sorensen) Mundt on his parent’s farm, 1 ½ miles east of Agar, in Milford Township.
Harold attended school in Agar. Due to his father’s failing health, Harold helped take over the family farm at the age of 14. He spent his entire life on the family farm. He took great pride in his farm and he always made sure it was painted, neat, and the grass mowed. He especially enjoyed spring and taking care of young animals.
Harold was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Agar. He was a lifetime member until October 24, 2010 when the church closed and he transferred to Holy Cross Lutheran in Onida. Harold’s faith was very important to him, and he attended church regularly and read his bible faithfully. He held many offices in the church, but his favorite was Sunday School Superintendant, an office he held for 18 years. He took great pride in keeping the church yard mowed until his health failed in 2009.
Harold married Delia Hofer on September 26, 1959. They made their home on the same farm near Agar. They were blessed with three sons, Craig, Curtis, and Brian. He was a wonderful father and was never too busy to take care of his family. He took time for vacations and boating, but made sure the work was done first.
Harold lived by the adage “If you can’t say something nice about someone, then don’t say anything at all.” Harold cherished his wife, children and grandchildren. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren’s visits to stay with him and Delia every summer.
In July 2009, Harold was diagnosed with dementia. His health failed quickly but he was able to stay at home with the loving care of his wife, Delia. He passed away peacefully in the same bedroom he was born in with his family by his side. Harold was the last of his generation in both the Sorensen and Mundt families.
Grateful to have shared his life are his wife, Delia; sons, Craig (Alice Mikkelsen) of Onida, Curtis (Peggy) of Agar, and Brian (Jamie) of Papillion, NE; four grandchildren, Taylor, Nicholas, Kyle, and Katie Mundt of Papillion, NE; and three sisters-in-law, Velva Kopecky, Marcelleen Davis, and Doris Hofer.
Harold was preceded in death by his father, Carl; mother, Addie; an infant sister, Vilola; and two sisters, Lauretta and Dorothy.
Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg has been entrusted with Harold’s arrangements.

I just wanted to express my deepest sympathy to your family. I remember when I used to live in the Agar area and my husband then (Kenny Millard) was involved in the community plays. We remember your family and all the fun we had while working on the plays and living in the community. May God Bless you all in your time of sadness!
