Isabelle Beckler

Isabelle Beckler, age 87, of Seneca, was welcomed home to the Lord Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at Faulkton Senior Living surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 25, 2021, at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Faulkton, with Father Randy Phillips presiding. Burial will follow in St. Boniface Cemetery, Seneca. A wake service will be 6:00 p.m., Friday, September 24, 2021, at the church with visitation one-hour prior.

Isabelle Keller was born March 10, 1934 near Linton, ND to Bernard and Margaret (Feist) Keller. When she was quite young her family moved to a farm between Onaka and Seneca, SD. She received her education at a rural country school.

On May 14, 1955, Isabelle was united in marriage to Kenneth Beckler. She was blessed to have met him through her sister, Eva. The two sisters married two brothers, allowing their families to grow up close. Kenneth and Isabelle made their home on the Clayton Beckler homestead near Seneca where they welcomed their seven children.

When Isabelle wasn’t busy helping Kenneth on the family farm, she worked at nursing homes in both Gettysburg and Faulkton. Her last job was cleaning and caring for the Carl and Delilah Albers family, and she absolutely loved the work.

With raising their large family came the task of feeding them all. Isabelle loved to garden, which led to a large amount of canning each year along with raising her chickens. She also loved spending time outdoors, even the daunting task of pulling weeds. She made sure all her children and grandchildren received quilts and dish towels. Above all, family and her faith were of upmost importance to her. Isabelle enjoyed planning and hosting all holidays, playing cards, sewing, and making ice cream with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Seneca where she was active in the altar society and teaching catechism to the church children. When St. Boniface closed, Isabelle transferred her membership to St. Thomas Catholic Church in Faulkton.

Isabelle’s life will be cherished by her children: Anthony Beckler, Hutchinson, KS, Shirley (Jeff) Greiner, Seneca, Cindy (Mike) Jager, Tolstoy, Janelle Wheeler, Seneca, Geralyn (Tom) Strasburg, Rockham, Raymond Beckler (Vicki), Seneca, and Colette (Mark) McCloud, Highmore; grandchildren: Calvin (Erica) Beckler. April Wetz, Cassandra (Chad) Seidel, Tim (Aubrey) Beckler, Donovan Greiner, Jessica (Andy) Urbanowski, Michael (Jenn) Jager, Justin (Cassie) Jager, Desiree Jager (Jesse), CariAnn (AJ) Rausch, Nathan Jager, Jeremy (Meghan) Holmes, Jesse Wheeler, Jenny Wheeler, Joey Wheeler, Jonathan Wheeler, Victor (Sarah) Strasburg, Vanessa (Cyle) Phillips, Matt (Stephanie) McCloud, Duke (Melissa) McCloud, Luke (Jessica) McCloud, Marshall (Sierra) McCloud, and Ken McCloud (Brooke); 44 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sister, Cecelia Lambert, Mandan, ND; and sisters-in-law: June Kilian, Pierre, Shirley Keller, YaColt, WA, and Delores Keller, Elliott, IA; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth; daughter-in-law, Sandy Beckler; granddaughter, Julie Wheeler; sisters: Barbara Piatz, Eva Beckler, Rose Whalen, Mary Hageman, and Caroline Gabriel; and brothers: Casper, Simon, Ben and Tony Keller.  

At Isabelle’s request, the family requests no flowers for her service. Memorials may be directed to St. Thomas the Apostle Church, PO Box 394, Faulkton, SD 57438, or given for masses in Isabelle’s honor.

Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg has been entrusted with Isabelle’s arrangements.
