James Brooks, Jr.

James Brooks, Jr., 57, of Miami, FL and formerly of Eagle Butte, passed away Thursday, September 5, 2013 at Vitas Health Care, Miami, FL. He passed on peacefully in the morning after a long illness.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., MDT, Monday, September 16, 2013 at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Eagle Butte with Mother Margaret Watson officiating.  Visitation was held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, September 15, 2013 at the church.

James Hector Brooks, Jr. was born April 12, 1956 to James Hector Brooks Sr. and Maxine Lois Spotted Bear in Pittsburgh, PA. After graduating from high school he served in the United States Army, receiving an honorable discharge.

He is survived by his two children: Danielle and Anthony Howze of Ohio; eight grandchildren; sisters: Marion Walker of Pittsburgh, PA and Joanne Tynes of Denver, CO; brothers: Gary Brooks of Pittsburgh, PA, Joey Brooks of Riverside, CA, and Anthony Brooks of Rapid City, SD and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

James’ memory will be cherished by all that knew him.
