Janet A. King, 54, of St. Lawrence, died Sunday, February 17, 2008 at the Hand County Memorial Hospital, Miller.

Funeral services were held at 2:00p.m., Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Miller with Pastor Bob Ohnstad officiating. Burial was in St. Lawrence Cemetery, directed by Reck Funeral Home of Miller. Visitation was held from 5:00-7:00p.m., Tuesday, February 19 with a 7:00p.m., prayer service at Reck Funeral Home, Miller.

Janet Alice Walker was born November 1, 1953 in Winner to John and Alice (Severin) Walker. In 1974, she graduated from Riggs High in Pierre. After graduation, she moved to O’Neil, Nebraska and worked as a police dispatcher.

On March 5, 1977, she married Robert King in Miller. The love of her life was caring for children but also worked at the driftwood and Apco.

She loved shopping for earrings, collecting angels, crocheting, bowling, and going to the casinos.

Her memory will be cherished by her husband: Robert of St. Lawrence; father: John Walker of Pierre; sisters: Joyce Schomberg (friend Dusty) of Mobridge and Judy Bouzek of Huron; several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. Extended family includes her father-in-law: Bernard King of Battle Ground, WA; sister-in-laws: Kathy (Gary) Jensen of Battle Ground, WA, Julie (Charlie) Gaetze of Battle Ground, WA; Karen (Randy) Hedge of Edgemont, SD, and Linda (Robert) Hoffman of Mt. Vernon, SD.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Alice; infant brother; nephew: Brent Bouzek and mother-in-law: Joyce King.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.

Reck Funeral Home of Miller was entrusted with her arrangements.

  4. I am so sorry to hear about your loss!! Any time I ever seen Janet she would have a smile on her face. You could tell that she really enjoyed life to the fullest.
    As you know I lost my mom almost 3 months ago…I miss he so much as I know you will miss Janet. Please let me know if you ever need to talk..it helps to have someone that has been through a loss.
