Jeremiah Ames, 43, of Sioux Falls, passed away Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at the Avera Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 22, 2025, at the First United Methodist Church, Miller, with Rev. Allison Galbreath officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at G.A.R. Cemetery, Miller.

Jeremiah Thomas Ames was born May 17, 1982, in Miller to Bill and Samanntha (Ward) Ames. His childhood was spent in Miller, Mt. Vernon, and Chancellor. He received his GED from Lennox and graduated from Southeast Tech.

Jeremiah held many jobs, including cutting and carpentry for masons, brickwork, cooking, and being a handyman. He was a jack of all trades.

Survivors include three sisters: Emily Powell of Tea, Rebecca (Josh) Karels of Sioux Falls, and Sarah Pugh of Gainesville, FL; nieces, nephews, his grandmother, Bonnie Boyd; stepfather, Douglas Pugh; and his aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bill; mother, Samanntha; an infant sister, Kathryn Pugh; grandparents; and two aunts.

Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be his cousins: Ever Najara, Will Najara, Betsy Schaefer, Adam Suhr, Andy Martinmaas, Grant Martinmaas, Weston Martinmaas, Stephanie Logan, Jenae Serratore, Haley Siferd, Sydney Bosworth, Rease Logan, Nicholas Schaefers, Cory Schaefers, and Jessica Corbitt.

Reck Funeral Home of Miller has been entrusted with Jeremiah’s arrangements.
