Jocelyn Clown, 35, of Eagle Butte, passed away Friday, December 16, 2022 at Cheyenne River Health Center, Eagle Butte.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. MST, Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at the CRST Bingo Hall, Eagle Butte. Burial will be at the Dupree City Cemetery. A wake service will be 6:00 p.m. MST, Monday, December 26, 2022, at the Bingo Hall with a procession from the four-mile junction at 4:00 p.m.

Jocelyn Ramona Clown was born on March 24, 1987, to Raymon Clown Sr. and Darla Stricker in Eagle Butte, SD. She had many nicknames; Jo, Joey, Auntie Jo, and Jo Mama just to name a few.  Jocelyn grew up with her family in ‘the big green house’ attending Dupree School in her grade school years. She lived with aunts and uncles, when not staying in dorms, while attending school in Eagle Butte with her sisters Alisha, Alison, and Jaclyn. She moved to Pierre in 2001 with her six younger siblings, and they were raised by Earl and Catherine Siefken. She graduated from T.F. Riggs High School in 2005.

She moved to Eagle Butte and four children were born to her and Dustin Brown: Lillian, Emily, Kyloh, and Katya.

Jocelyn loved spending time with children. Her life revolved around her girls as they were her top priority. She liked to have her nephews and nieces over and eventually became the neighbor kids´ ¨Auntie Jo¨. She was always the first to volunteer to watch anyone´s kids when asked and you could always find an extra kid or more at her apartment. She had many friends and relatives and liked to laugh and joke.

She liked to travel when she could and a few of the places that she traveled to are Oceanside, CA, Albuquerque, NM, and Redding, CA. 

Jocelyn worked various jobs to include Lakota Connection in Timber Lake, Game Fish & Parks in Eagle Butte, and babysitting.

Jocelyn is survived by her daughters: Lillian Darshan, Emily Annabelle, Kyloh Lyn, and Katya Dominique; sisters: Alison (Duane) Curley of Rapid City, SD, Jaclyn Clown of Sioux Falls, SD, and Dontae Clown of Pierre, SD; brothers: Raymon Clown Jr., Vetal Stricker-Clown, Tre’Jon Clown, and Reese Clown all of Pierre, SD; nieces: Adrianna, Mikol, Amatiel, Araya, Elizabeth, Darla, Zaleah, and Tristi; nephews: Darius, Devin, Dakota, Sitka, Ladanien, Deondre, and Trinity.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Raymon Clown Sr. and Darla Stricker; sister, Alisha Clown; maternal grandparents, Eglin Stricker and Sharon Mandan; paternal grandparents, True and Nancy Clown.

Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg has been entrusted with Jocelyn’s arrangements.

A Graveside Service was held on December 27, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Dupree City Cemetery, Northeast corner of town in Dupree, SD 57623

  1. Jocelyn. Sad you had to go, I know you are healthy again, making up dance steps and dancing so joyful to them. Mothering all the babies that seem not to have that for themselves. You had talent that most I knew didn't have. You sneak up on a mouse as you never made a sound. Beautiful young lady with poise of a princess. You were first line when Brain's were handed out. So young to go so young. God needed his angel back home. So please fly high and watch over your sibling as they still need your love. God Bless.
