Johanna “Jo” Ducheneaux, 68, of Little Eagle, passed away Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Highmore Health, Highmore, SD.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. MDT, Friday, May 16, 2025, at CRST Bingo Hall, Eagle Butte. Burial will follow in Good Shepherd Cemetery, Little Eagle. A wake service will be 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 15, 2025, at the bingo hall, with a procession from the 4-Mile at 4:00 p.m.
Johanna Mary Ducheneaux was born on May 16, 1956, in Fort Yates, North Dakota, to Isadore V. Ducheneaux Sr. and Audrey Takes The Gun. Throughout her life, she lived in Little Eagle, Eagle Butte, Mobridge, and Fort Yates.
Johanna worked at Prairie Knights Casino, Grand River Casino, and Merkel Foods. She resided in Mobridge until her health began to decline. She was first moved to a nursing home in Mobridge, then to Rapid City, and finally to Highmore Health, where she passed away.
Johanna is survived by her two children: Waylon Little Dog of Bismarck, ND, and Chantelle Ducheneaux of Waseca, MN; four grandchildren; two sisters: Yvette Inukihaangana and Victoria Ducheneaux of Eagle Butte; and three brothers: Lynn Ducheneaux of Sioux Falls, Wallace Ducheneaux of Eagle Butte, and Fredrick Ducheneaux of Spirit Lake, ND.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Isadore V. Ducheneaux Sr. and Audrey Takes The Gun; two brothers, Isadore V. Ducheneaux Jr. and Harold Takes The Gun; and her grandmother, Laura Takes The Gun.
Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg has been entrusted with Jo’s arrangements.

I was sad to hear of cousin Johannas passing. We had a lot of Good memories when we were in Mobridge. I'm glad you video called me last year. 😢 I didn't know it would be the last time I would hear your voice. I will miss you greatly, but I know you are "walking those streets of Gold" with our Savior now. 🙏 Prayers for her Children and Family. Fly High Cousin. You were always Good to me. 😭 RIP johanna. Be at peace sister I always remember The memories we made when you lived in mobridge and went to my dad's church and Wakpala say hi to my dad for me I'll be joining you'll in a little bit my sincere condolences to the family…
