John Christiansen, 93, was hospitalized at Avera Hand County Hospital where he died early in the morning of March 14th 2012. There will be visitation at the Rembold Funeral Home, St. Lawrence on Sunday March 18th from 5:00 ? 7:00 PM with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service. The funeral will be on Monday the 19th at 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Miller with burial at St. Ann Catholic Cemetary.

John was born Sept. 1, 1918 in Hand County to Jens and Anne (Jacobs) Christiansen. He was educated in rural schools in South Hand County through eighth grade after which he stayed at home to help with the farming. On September 16, 1941 he married Mary Johnson. They lived on various farms south of Miller and Vayland. In 1970 they moved into St.Lawrence and John drove school bus and did mechanics for the Foreman Bus Sales.

After Mary's death in 1978, John married Lois Pugh on August 9, 1980 and they made their home in St. Lawrence until 2006 when they moved into the Plaza in Miller. Due to failing health, John moved into the Good Samaritan Center in Miller in January of 2009.

John is survived by his wife Lois, 4 sons: Tom (wife Karen) of Hurley, SD, Jim (wife Sheila) of Merriam, Kansas temporarily residing in Merida, Mexico, Joel and Dale both of St, Lawrence, and two daughters: Marie (husband Ivan) Trowbridge of Wolsey and Ruth (husband Rick) Lindgren of San Antonio, TX. He is also survived by 3 Step Children, Jay and Don Pugh of Miller and Ann Meyer of Spring Branch, TX. Survivors also include 12 grand children, 10 great grand children,1 step great grand child and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding John in death are his wife, Mary, one brother Clarence and one sister, Laura (husband Harold) Walton, 2 daughers-in-law and 2 step children.
