November 10, 1943 ~ October 7, 2022

Judy "Granny" Lee Stanley, 78, of Aberdeen and formerly of Miller, passed away Friday, October 7, 2022, at the Aberdeen Health and Rehab.

Visitation will be 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Friday, October 28, 2022, followed by a 6:00 p.m. prayer service, all at Reck Funeral Home, Miller.  Burial will be at G.A.R. Cemetery, Miller.

Judy Lee Stanley was born to George and Bonnie (Shugart) Wainscott on November 10, 1943, in Berkeley, California. As a baby, her family moved to Houston, Texas. Judy had three children: Trisha, Terri, and Timothy. She married Charles J. Stanley on August 19, 1975. They were married 35 years until his passing in 2010.

Judy worked at Rice Food Markets in Houston, Texas for 20 plus years. She would often mention her earlier years as a bouncer/bartender at a strip club. She had a bit of a wild side, as she also drag raced her ‘57 Chevy with a T-Bird motor in it.

In 1998, she retired from Rice Food Markets and moved to South Dakota to be close to her daughter Terri and her family. She enjoyed living in South Dakota but dreaded the cold winters. In 2014, she moved into the Miller Plaza where she made many new friends. She enjoyed her time in the dining room having coffee, eating lunch, and enjoying the music people would come and play.  In 2019, due to needing dialysis, she made a move to Mitchell to Meadowlawn Plaza.  She made many more new friends.  She enjoyed playing bingo, playing cards, and all the small gatherings they had.  In May 2022, she made her last move to Aberdeen Health and Rehab.  She was loved by all the staff there and was happy in her final days. She would often mention, “they all love me here.”

Judy loved to watch Nascar, particularly, Dale and Dale Earnhardt Jr., but most recently you would find her cheering on Chase Elliott.  However, you wouldn't dare mention Kurt and Kyle Busch to her.  She enjoyed watching the Houston Astros in their recent successful years.  She rarely missed watching a Houston Texans football game.  She was a true fan of any Houston, Texas sport.  She loved all genres of music but loved listening to Elvis Presley the most.  She loved meeting new people, making new friends, and was loved wherever she went. She will be missed dearly.

Judy is survived by one brother, Robert Webb; one step-sister, Barbara Maggard; one son, Timothy Wainscott; one daughter, Terri (Marlin) Auch of San Tan Valley, AZ; grandchildren: Austin Auch of Phoenix, AZ; Dallas Auch (special friend Duane Simons) of Miller, SD; Crystal Killion of San Tan Valley, AZ; Dakota (Taylor) Auch of San Tan Valley, AZ; great grandchildren: Lauren Coon of Houston, TX, Hailey Welch of Houston, TX, Jocelyn and Jaxon Kienow of Miller, SD, Courtney and Cayden Cripe of San Tan Valley, AZ, Bently, Braylee, and Greyson Chaney of Texas; special grandchildren: Riley and Ally Simons of Miller, SD; great-great grandchildren: Bella, Maleek, and Camden of Houston, Texas; special friends: Rodney and Michele Lewellen; along with many cousins, niece, and nephew.
