Julian "Sim" LeBeau
November 16, 1959 ~ November 27, 2020
Julian Michael LeBeau, aka “Sim”, 61, of Spearfish, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 27, 2020 at Monument Health Hospice in Rapid City, after a brief illness.
Sim was cremated and inurnment will be at Mossman Cemetery in Ridgeview, SD at a private service for immediate family only, at a later date.
Sim was born on November 16, 1959 to Martin and Gladys (Claymore) LeBeau in Eagle Butte, SD; the fifth of eight children born to this union.
As a very small child he received his unique nickname when his dad watched the old western “Rage at Dawn” with Randolph Scott, after a character in the movie named Simeon “Sim” Reno. The name stuck and was the only one he knew. It fit him perfectly.
Sim was born developmentally disabled and lived at home with the love and care of his family. This all changed with the untimely passing of his mother in 1989, and he moved to the South Dakota Developmental Center in Redfield where he gained the skills to live in the community.
He then moved to Spearfish (Northern Hills Training Center) where he thrived and made many new friends. His family is forever grateful for the care Sim received throughout the years and “thank you” seems inadequate for all the love and support he was shown, especially from staff at the 34th Street house...... you will never be forgotten.
Sim enjoyed the simple things life has to offer: a car ride, looking out the window, a hug from a friend, and plenty of beverages to drink! He loved seeing family and friends, listening to music, and most recently, working in the garden. He was also known for his love of black t-shirts.
Left to mourn his passing and celebrate his memory are three brothers: Leland (Melissa) LeBeau of Eagle Butte, SD, Russel (Deanna) LeBeau of Browns Valley, MN, and Blaine Le Beau of Blunt, SD; four sisters: Elaine (Mark) Goehring of Blunt, SD, Sharon (the late Eddie) Anderson, Eagle Butte, SD, Donna (Richie) Vrooman of Redfield, SD, and LeeAnne (Clint) Birkeland of Dupree, SD.
Sim was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Gladys; his brother-in-law, Eddie Anderson; and two nephews, Flint Dahl and Cooper Harry LeBeau.
Sim’s family would like to thank Dr. Brady, Dr. Shafqat, the nurses at Spearfish Monument Health in Spearfish, and the nursing staff at Monument Hospice House in Rapid City for the excellent care and concern shown our beloved brother.
Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg has been entrusted with Julian’s arrangements.

So sorry Donna and all of Sim's family.
Rest In Peace uncle.
Jayme LeBeau and Family

We will miss our Sim so much but know that he is in a better place. We miss is cute smile as well as hugs when he chose to give them out they were far and few inbetween but when you received a hug you were in heaven. We miss him drinking coffee with us in the morning and then asking for more when he finished. He taught us so much and we will be always grateful that we knew such a wonderful man. My heartfelt sympathies to Sim's family. He was such a sweet soul! I will always remember his beautiful smile and love for music. Johnny Cash and Johnny Horton were some favorites. I have fond memories of our adventures on outings together. One was when we were driving and I cranked the radio up to a Johnny Cash song. Caught a glimpse of him smiling ear to ear teeth and all! He will never be forgotten. Fly high Sim!
Oh Mr. Sim, you gave so much to those in your life. I miss that twinkle in your eyes when you would drink my coffee and how much you loved going for drives. Thank you for teaching us all to simplify our lives.
Rest in peace, Uncle Sim. Give Grandma and Grandpa a big hug from us. They’ll be as happy to see you again as you are to see them.
So very sad to hear of Sim's passing. I worked with him a bit and he was a special guy. His mischievous smile always made you wonder what he was up.. He will be missed by many. So very sorry for your loss.
Miss you like crazy Sim, can't believe you are actually gone. I'm going to miss the days where you would randomly just come and sit by me and smile and want to hold my hand. We will see eachother again sometime
Oh Simmers, you are so dearly missed. You were always a spot of calm in a hectic day. I will forever remember and appreciate your gentle way. You always reminded me how important simple things could be. I may have only worked with you for a year, but you have forever touched my life in that time. Rest in peace my sweet friend.
Sim was one of the most amazing people I've ever known. I bet he's already met and hung out with Johnny Horton in Heaven. Much love to Sim's wonderful family.
