Laramie Urban
March 14, 1979 ~ December 11, 2021
Laramie Urban, 42, of Rapid City, formerly of St. Lawrence, passed away Saturday, December 11, 2021, due to a heart condition.
A celebration of life will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 8, 2022, at the St. Lawrence Fire Hall, St Lawrence, Pastor Teresa Whetsel, officiating.
Laramie Wayne Urban was born March 14, 1979, in Sioux Falls, SD to Sharon Verdugt and Ron Urban. Through his adolescence, he lived in Fort Pierre, but the majority of his youth was spent in St. Lawrence, SD. As a child, Laramie found a deep love of animals that he undoubtedly got from his mother. He helped Sharon with her horse and dog business growing up. Laramie attended Miller Jr./Sr. High School. Laramie married Rachel Frewaldt in 1996, to which they had three children: Cheyenne, Cody, and Bailey Urban. Laramie and Rachel later separated. He met Christina Gabrielson (McKenna) in 2004 and they had one son, Coy Urban, in 2008.
Laramie had a little bit of a wanderer’s soul and lived various places but always seemed to gravitate back to South Dakota. He always had his pit bull with him, who he would consider his truest friend. Laramie had a very kind soul, and although misunderstood by some, he wanted to help people where he could. You could often find him with his motorcycle, music playing, and his dog by his side. He found art in many things, including his many tattoos.
Laramie had an infectious laugh that made you laugh along, even if you were the brunt of the jokes. He was a loving friend, father, son, and brother. He will be missed by so many.
Laramie's survivors include his children: Cheyenne (Tyala) Urban, Cody Urban, Bailey Urban, and Coy Urban; his mother, Sharon Verdugt; and his siblings, Joni (Brady) Weaver, Harold Urban, and Christeen (Todd) Scheurenbrand.
He is preceded in death by his father, Ron Urban; grandfather, Edwin Urban; and grandmother, Sylvia Huber; grandparents: Leonard and Zona Verdugt; a brother, Jeremy (J.D.) Gortmaker; and a niece, Jolene Weaver.
Reck Funeral Home of Miller has been entrusted with Laramie’s arrangements.

May the memory of Laramie live on through his children and family……Laramie was often misunderstood but those who knew him understood he had a huge heart. He always knew how to have a good time, and his laugh was infectious. ❤
