Lauretta Mae Schaefers, 82, of Cavour, formerly of Miller and Federal Way, Washington, died Wednesday, April 20 at her daughter's home in Cavour after a short battle with cancer. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 26, at St. Ann Catholic Church in Miller with Fr. Chester Murtha officiating. Visitation will be Monday, April 25 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. scripture service all at St. Ann Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Ann Catholic Cemetery in Miller.
Lauretta was born May 4, 1928 in Miller to Vern and Bernice (Hamilton) Johnson.
Lauretta married Lloyd Bud McMahon in 1946. To this union, five children were born. Bud died in 1964.
In 1968, she married Al Roesler. He died in 1973.
In November of 1983, Lauretta married Duane Schaefers.
She worked at various places including the Hand County Clinic, Wilbers Feed and Seed and Ree Electric Coop. After moving to Washington, Lauretta worked as a receptionist and office manager for a drug and alcohol treatment agency for 22 years. She retired in July of 2009.
Lauretta was a past member of St. Ann Catholic Church where she was a religious instructor. She was a member of the St. Vincent Parish in Federal Way, Wash.
Survivors include her husband, Duane of Cavour; a daughter, Helen LeeAnn (Hugh) Miner of Cavour; three sons, Michael (Charlotte) McMahon of Huron, Patrick (Jean) McMahon of Houston, Texas, and Tim (Verna) McMahon of Miller; fourteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; a sister Lenore (Warren) Case of Daleville, Ala.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Bud and Al; one infant son, Joseph; and one sister, LaVerne Valentine.
