Leon Marcel Veaux was born to Evelyn Rita & Thomas Jasper Veo Sr. on February 12, 1960, at Cheyenne Agency, SD. His father Thomas Jasper went to be with the Lord when Leon was eight months old.  Leon was then raised along with his four older brothers, Herbert, Kirby, Thomas, & Terrrance in Marksville and LaPlant, SD. He was a gentle and easy-going little brother, always loving, friendly and helpful. Later in life he gained four more siblings-Steven, Lori, Clinton & Lyndell "Joy". Leon attended school at Swiftbird Day School & Cheyenne-Eagle Butte. He excelled in track and his main sport basketball. He carried around his bible with him while in high school, in which it was very rare to see such a young person eager to learn about the Lord. In 1978, Leon graduated from Cheyenne-Eagle Butte High School.

Leon worked at Cheyenne-Eagle Butte boys dormitory as a matron for 35 years. Always buying things to liven up the dormitory for the kids, having movie night, opening the gym so the kids could get in some physical activity sharing his knowledge and talents. He eventually retired in 2023. He had a great influence on many young lives, a lot of young & old people looked up to him.

Leon met the love of his life in high school in 1974 they were just really good friends and when they were juniors in high school he became the love of her life. They eventually were married on August 9, 1980, to this union they had Kimberly Dawn, Raina Arlette, Miriam Lee, Elisha Zachary, Jerris Liane, Caleb Jace, Jasper Marcel, Rianne Jade & Dustin Kade. He raised his children in the Lord and taught them right from wrong, he was very strict and went by Proverbs 22:6 "Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old, he will not depart from it." He would always tell them to pray, read your KJV Holy Bibles, honor your father and mother, take care of the things God blessed you with. Follow Jesus. Don't fall into the worldly things and always put God first. Take care of your family. He also helped raise Elias, Zion, Liam, Urijah, Kassian & Kaius; being a father figure in their lives. He taught the ones willing to learn how to be a handy man, working on cars, doing housing repairs & was happy for those who wanted to learn things from him. He had a good sense of humor, always joking and making others laugh. He loved his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren unconditionally. Leon spoke wise words to each of us, which will be missed immensely.

Leon played basketball. Wanting to learn from his older brothers on dirt ground since he was 4 or 5 years old. Which eventually made him into a great basketball player, being able to sky over bigger opponents in high school and thereafter. He was best known for his little kick, his jump shots and a great 3-point sniper. Leon played in many leagues and tournaments for basketball in the 40- and 50-year-old and over nationals in Ft Hall, ID.  He was the same when it came to fishing and hunting. Teaching his sons, nephews and grandsons the sport of fishing and hunting. Shooting many monster bucks.

He is going to be missed immensely by the love of his life Carla Jean Jacinta. his children: Kimberly (J) Shepherd, Raina (Jared) Slade, Miriam (Michael) Archambault, Jerris (Ryan) Veaux, Caleb (Kayla) Veaux, Jasper Veaux, Rianne Veaux & Dustin Eli Runs After; his grandchildren: Elias Taylor, Elijah Thomas, Zion Latrell, Liam Zechariah, Esai Thomas, Elisha Jaiz, Hezekiah Caleb, MaKya Raynn, Nehemiah Zachary, Micah Ray, X'lacian J'Diss, Jaazia Vai, Urijah Jade, Jozaiah Ryan, Mya Evan, Faeden Jaspen, Eratosthenes Leon, Amaziah Erik, Tilli Cina-Jean, Kassian Jayziel, Kaius Jaazaniah, Jaia Dawn, Kash, Precious, Krystan Traversie; his great grandchildren: Zacari Marcel-LLoyd, Azariah Lee, Evelyn Victoria-Joy, Adriann Faith, Miriya Renee, Mylah Kharia, Elliana Lou-Jean, A'Layha Rita, Leon Joel, Josiah Jay, A'layah Ann, Kayla Kade; brothers: Herb (Ronda) LaVaux, Kirby Veaux "Tiokasin Ghosthorse", Terry (Gina) Veo, Steve (Janine) Bartlett, and Clint Bartlett; and brothers-in-law: Daren LaClaire &  Dana LaClaire
