Leona Marie Speck, 88, of Miller, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2024 at Good Samaritan Society, Miller. 

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at Reck Funeral Home, Miller.  Burial will be at St. Placidus Cemetery, Duncan.

Leona Marie Mular was born in rural Minnesota to Stanley and Maggie (Kopitski) Mular. She attended school in Taunton, Minnesota and college at Mankato, Minnesota. She arrived in South Dakota in 1954 to teach school. She married Robert W. Speck on August 23, 1955.  To this union four children were born, Patricia, Robert A., Susan, and Gary.  She taught school for 34 years until her retirement.

She is survived by her son, Robert A. Speck; daughters: Patricia (Robert) Moriarty and Susan Speck; granddaughters: Jennifer and Sarah (Darin Domeyer); and great grandchildren: Haley, Dylan, Griffen, and James.

She was preceded in death by her husband; ten-week-old son, Gary; parents; sister, Lucille; and many brothers and sisters-in-law.

Reck Funeral Home of Miller has been entrusted with Leona's arrangements. 

A Funeral Service was held on March 12, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Reck Funeral Home, 313 E. 1st Ave. in Miller, SD 57362
A Graveside Service was held on March 12, 2024 at 2:15 PM at St. Placidus Cemetery, 35640 221st Street in Duncan, SD 57341
