Leonard Anderson, age 80, of Bloomington, MN and formerly of Eagle Butte passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 19, 2010 at his home, surrounded by his family.

A scripture wake service was held at 6:00 p.m. MST, Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at All Saints Catholic Church in Eagle Butte with Fr. Dan Juelfs officiating.  Visitation was held one hour prior to the service.

Leonard LeRoy Anderson was born November 3, 1930 in Alpena, SD to Vernon “Jim” and Esther (Cunningham) Anderson.  He attended elementary/grade school in Green Grass and Eagle Butte.

Leonard served in the Korean War from 1951-1952. He then returned to Eagle Butte, and on May 29, 1953 he married Muriel Lois Dupris.

He spent most of his working life as an over-the-road truck driver, and spent all of his home life enjoying his family. 

Leonard’s life is left to be cherished by his wife: Muriel Anderson of Bloomington, MN; his children: Joleen (Thomas) Squire of Bloomington, MN, Butch (Anita) Anderson and  Leonard D. (Charlene) Anderson of Eagle Butte, SD, Jamie Anderson, Jesse Anderson, Alecia Anderson (Lance), Joshua Anderson, Karly Jo Neville and James Neville all of Bloomington, MN; sisters: Maxine Bongard of Rapid City, SD and JoAnne (Avin) Martin and Joyce Peterson of Piedmont, SD; brother: Kenneth (Geneann) Anderson of Piedmont, SD; his grandchildren: Jason (Heidi) Squire of Farmington, MN, Christy Anderson (John), Robyn Anderson (CJ), Shane Anderson, Cali Anderson, Jace Anderson (Brianna), and Jared (Jeri Lynn) Anderson all of Eagle Butte, SD; great grandchildren, who fondly referred to him as "Papa-Great": Aaliyah, Arianna, Brandon, KaiLoni, Austin, Lenni Dee, Deliohn, Dominic and Adelaide.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Esther and Vernon “Jim” Anderson; his beloved daughters: Lori Lea and Karen Kay; sisters: Beverly Steele and Norma Hertel; and a great-grandchild, Dominic Allen.

Luce Funeral Chapel of Eagle Butte has been entrusted with Leonard’s arrangements.

    was one of the best Uncle I could ever have.He would help any body out if he could.
