Linn Wheelhouse, 64, of Highmore, passed away Friday, November 12, 2021, at his home.
A private celebration of life will be held in the summer of 2022, at his childhood home, south of Highmore.
Linn was born on October 10, 1957, in Pierre, SD to George and Ellen (Fawcett) Wheelhouse. He attended Highmore High School, graduating in 1976. He also attended the University of South Dakota in Springfield before moving to Pierre, South Dakota with his wife and newborn daughter, Shelley Marie. He also welcomed a son, Bradley James four years later in Rapid City, South Dakota. Also making homes in Huron and Sturgis before moving back to the Pierre/Highmore area approximately 20 years ago.
Over the years, Linn worked hard and was employed in the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) profession for many years and worked all over the State of South Dakota with his business, Wheels Sheetmetal. He had a very special talent and gift for bending sheet metal and heating and cooling many homes. With this hard work also came the ability to play hard, especially with anything cars. He was most in his element when he was going to stock car races, and building, driving, or working on race cars. He also loved hunting and fishing whenever the seasons allowed which was a very special gift he has passed on to his children. In later years, as he tried to slow down his life in the fast lane, he enjoyed playing darts or pool.
Linn is survived by his two children: Shelley (Michael) Roemmich of Aberdeen, and Brad (April) Wheelhouse of Sioux Falls; his two grandsons: Chase Wheelhouse and Drew Wheelhouse; his siblings: DeWayne (Ev) Wheelhouse, Loren (Edith) Wheelhouse, Mark (Betty) Wheelhouse and Lennice (Curt Miller) Peterson; Linn had very special bonds with his many nieces and nephews who all share in the celebration of his life: Melissa Wheelhouse, Krissie (Nick) Bierman, Angie (Darren) Harvey, Roxy (Jason) Hall, Scott (Andrea) Wheelhouse, Daisy (Nathan) Johnson, Brett (Kelly) Wheelhouse, Daron (Carrie) Wheelhouse, Damon Wheelhouse, Amanda (Dustin) Bouza and William Peterson.
Linn is preceded in death by his parents: George and Ellen Wheelhouse; and a sister, Diane Wheelhouse.
Luze Funeral Home of Highmore has been entrusted with Linn's arrangements.

My deepest sympathies to the entire Wheelhouse family. Praying for God to comfort you and give you strength.

I am sad to hear of Linn's passing. Linn showed up at our 40th class reunion with a gift for everyone that said Class of 76 on it. I still use mine, and I think of him every time. That always struck me as so sweet and considerate. I will miss you at the next reunion Linn. You won't be forgotten.
Eternal peace to you,
Teresa
