Lloyd Marvin Bellack was born July 22, 1930 in Seneca, SD to Frank and Clara (Dick) Bellack. He received his education in Seneca until circumstances required him to stay home and farm, as the health of his grandfather was ailing.
On August 22, 1952, Lloyd was united in marriage to Marie Ida Payton at Miles City, Montana. They lived in Germany for a couple years while he was stationed there during his military service. Upon his discharge, the couple returned to Seneca where they lived until 1958. They then moved to a farm east of Faulkton where they raised their family of five. In 2013 they moved into Faulkton.
Lloyd was a kind, compassionate, and generous man. He would do anything he was able to, trying always to help those in need. Lloyd and Marie, in their younger years, enjoyed camping with family and traveling as time would allow. He was always willing to spend a day fishing or hunting, enjoying time in his garden, or playing a game of cards. Lloyd was content spending time with his beloved Marie, his family, and his friends. The family enjoyed that time, soaking in Lloyd’s love of jokes or harmless pranks. Lloyd also enjoyed the addition of his second family in later years. The family of Jim and Kathy Otter were a true blessing! They were always there when his own family could not be and he especially loved his nickname “Chief” that only his dear friend Jim would call him.
Lloyd was a member throughout his years of the Faulkton VFW, American Legion and Odd Fellows Lodge.
His life will be cherished by his children: Margie Shantz, Lake Hills, TX, Ken Bellack (Diana Harden), Gillette, WY, Don (Mickie) Bellack, Durant, OK, Ed (Donna) Bellack, North Vernon, IN, and Kathy Kennedy, Centennial, CO; 11 grandchildren: Justin (Jessica) Shantz, Heather (Clayton) Smith, Sarah Shantz, Jake (Sami) and Keith Bellack, Luke (Kelligh) Bellack, Jessica Harris, Beau Bellack, Ashley (Garrett) Pacheco, Kaitlin Kennedy and Ty Kennedy; 13 great grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Bob (Shirley) Payton, Rapid City; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marie; infant daughter, Virginia; and his siblings: Mabel Holzwarth, Florence Winters, Edwin Bellack, Vernon Bellack, and Ella Winters.
Luce Funeral Home of Faulkton has been entrusted with Lloyd’s arrangements.
